Good to hear the AFLPA doing their bit to help. I thought Collins spoke well about the problem and that footy is only a small part of of the life of these footballers.

Nothing to do with the gambling specifically, but if I remember rightly, I read in the 'Tiser the other day that Damian was involved in a car accident recently, sadly writing his car off ???

Not knowing the exact situation of course, but IF it was a case of Cupido was to blame for the accident, might have a bit to do with his whole situation and mental state...

When people have so much on their plate at once, of course their minds are constantly ticking things over and this may have played a part in terms of not concentrating...

Well done to West Adelaide and the AFLPA for the way they have handled the situation and good luck to Damian, hope he can overcome his issues and be back next year...

Bloody Hell, Cupido used to be my favourite player at Essendon. Saw him at Morphetville a couple of weeks ago.

Yes, I do agree with that ... in hindsight, my original comment about this issue was inappropriate as I didn't research the facts about this case.

Best wishes to all concerned, including Damien.

I'm sorry if I caused any offence.

The issue with Gambling is that it can become incredibly addictive and can get out of control quite easilly, there seems to be several AFL players that have had this situation occur, I think it probably always has been an issue, yet in more modern times people are talking about it more and more which at least helps the individual to find solutions. The worrying part is that if you have footballers with gambling addiction, then we now have a situation where the football club is based around gambling and in a situation where it relies on the Gaming Machines to keep the club going, making it difficult for the club to effectively deal with the problem, so the action the WAFC have taken in getting him home with family is no doubt the right one and the best thing the club can really do.

Well said.

A fine player who seemed to be fit enough to do the job in 2009. I'd say this has made the odds of the final 5 now being set, pretty much unbackable.

Is it too early for a pie joke?

I'd know dealing with any addiction is difficult enough in private but it must be a thousand times worse if your being watched by the public/media whether it local, national or global. So can't really be surprised if most want it kept quiet and obviously not good for any clubs reputation either.

But good for him in having the guts to publically admit this and I wish him the best of luck. Hope he'll be given the time and space he needs to fight it.
