This is one everyone on here wants. Unfortunatly there will never be enough voices to bring it back.

You're probably right, and there has been discussion on the ABC's decision to not show SANFL, VFL and WAFL games so I won't go there. In light of this, I have a second wish for 2010.

- someone who is a little bit technically minded to record the games, convert to .avi, and put them up on SAfooty for all to enjoy. ;)

Id be happy to do it if someone could tell me how to convert them to avi, I save them on my PS3 which are m2ts files i think

Someone did that on a torrent site up till a couple years ago. While I discouraged the illegal practise I did advise people where it could be found but noone downloaded them so the person doesn't bother anymore.

Must admit I'd love to get my hands on some VFL games as the couple Ive seen this year have been great to watch and better than any SANFL games Ive seen for a long time.

Regarding the legality: The ABC are funded by taxpayers. I'm a taxpayer, so technically I own them. As copyright owner I give myself authority to download SANFL broadcasts that anyone puts up. ;)

I know it's not legal, but living interstate I don't know how else to get to see the games. I do get family in Adelaide to record Glenelg games and send them over, but I don't like imposing on them every week for non-GFC games. I have seen games from 2007 on Diwana, but none since apart from last years GF. I only joined there recently so wasn't around when they were originally posted. I understand that going to the effort of recording, converting and uploading would get tiresome if no one was downloading what was offered.

I guess this just shows what a great concept the state league games being shown on ABC2 were.

Isn't it only illegal to reproduce them? (Ie, watching them on your PC is ok?)

The SANFL have all of the non ABC boradcast games filmed, mainly for coaching purposes, but are available for the public to purchase via the SANFL website using the Pay-Pal system.

They are all commentated, either just dubbing in the local radio broadcast of having locals calling the game. For $30 the DVD's can then be easily be posted to you in Tassie Ingall.

Here is the link to purchase DVD's from Round 1-9 of this season - http://www.sanfl.com.au/store/2009_sanfl_dvds_r1-9/

I'm not sure, but I think you could only watch it on your PC if you recorded it on there for personal use / timeshifting. With torrents, usenet etc it's the sharing of content without the copyright holders authority that is the issue (as it would be in this case).

Thanks for the link, but $30 a game is a bit rich. They seem a few weeks behind too.

Think I'll stick with getting dad to tape them and send them down. :)

My wish would be to have a combined WA, SA and NT league as a true 2nd tier comp to the AFL.

I now wait to be howled down

Well that's taking it one step futher - virtually a 2nd Division AFL. I like it but it would be almost impossible to arrange and would need a major sponsor. The SA/WA/NT would give us a regional comp to start with and we could invite others in.

Of course it will never happen.

as a Bays supporter i'd like to see a game in Mount Gambier, a big number of our players are from the south east - the club could do coaching clinics/training sessions with some of the big clubs down there, have their main session friday night under lights, with a game on the Saturday.

my 2010 SANFL wishlist in no particular order

a) no country games. As a passionate supporter of a sanfl club I like watching 2 if not 3 games my club plays each weekend. I am not interested in travelling hundreds of kilometres just to watch my club play. That is for the afl devotes, they enjoy travelling to victoria every second week. The sanfl is a metropolitan competition and should remain so. None the less I repect all country leagues and what they mean to their local participants

b) adelaide oval is the best venue for football, although I am not convinced it will ever comfortably accomadate any afl crowd, ie greater than 25000. I am absolutely against any football matches being progammed to be played at adelaide oval. The adelaide oval must be managed by an independent trust for the benefit of all sports that play at the facility. The saca must be removed from any decision making and there needs to be a long term plan that significantly upgrades spectator comfort but maintains the aesthetic landscape we all have known and loved. The lights are too low, everybody dislikes the stands on the eastern side and the bradman stand is now to be demolished it would seem. The saca does not own adelaide oval and they dont own football. If the saca is looking for a project, look no further than the redbacks.

c) More friday night games particularly early and later in the season when temperatures are warmer. I like a mix of friday night, saturday afternoon and sunday afternoon fixtures.

d) I vote strongly for the 9 team competition to remain. Traditional clubs with long term loyal supporters is the way it should be. I like an occasional bye. The biggest problem I see with the bye is afl players playing for a sanfl club having a bye being force to play for the lowest ranked reserves team

e) The sanfl competition to be of no lesser standard or quality. There should be no reduction in salary cap. The sanfl should remain the second highest standard competition in the land regardless of the afl's plans. We love to watch the current quality of player and clubs competing strongly for premiership flags, we do not want a under 23 years competition purely for potential afl draftees

f) I would like to see all clubs financial and competitive on the field. I want south adelaide to be a competitive and winning games. There is talk that clubs are spending too much on there football departments and that this causes clubs to making financial losses each year. From what I see it is that clubs keep spending and borrowing large amounts of money to make their gaming facilities more attractive and profitable that is causing the financial losses.

g) I prefer being able to watch league, reserves and u18's all play at the same ground on the same day and that the draw is the same for all three competitions

h) No to any afl curtain raisers. I have no interest in the afl and that money corrupted game

i) Have not heard much about this but I preferred the sanfl website the way it used to be. Open access to all the information and no registration.

j) crazy idea, but would anyone like to see lightning carnivals of amateur clubs or even womens leagues between the league and reserves or half time breaks

There was a poll question on the SANFL website a while back asking if you'd participate in a DreamTeam style fantasty competition for the SANFL. That's something I'd like to see next year.
