Warne was commentating on the 1st day of this test when Katich was very close to being lbw from an Anderson inswinger. Hawkeye had it smashing into off stump, but Warne commented that there was enough doubt to make the not out decision correct. How he can then come out a couple of days later and say that Bell was lbw to Siddle, even though Hawkeye had it going over the stumps, makes little sense to me.

Any time a batsmen is playing forward and is hit above the knee roll of the pad, there must at least be some doubt in the umpire's mind as to whether the ball would be going over the stumps. In my opinion, Rudi got that decision 100% correct.

PS Quick memo to Brendan Julian - no matter how many times you harp on about Bell's lbw during the breaks on Foxtel, it doesnt change the fact that it hit him high enough on the pad to create some doubt in the umpire's mind.

You make the assumption that Hawkeye is always correct ... which I think can be disputed.

Remember it's what it looks like by the first instinct with the naked eye ... this is what Warnie is on about.

I'm not saying he is right (or wrong) but I understand the context of his comments.

I hope this doesn't jinx him but credit where it's due, Watto has looked very solid with the bat in this match. He had a couple of close LBW calls in the first dig but overall he has looked pretty good. Further evidence why he should just give the bowling away and concentrate purely on his batting.

It's boring, the game is a certainty to end in a draw.

95% of draws are not good for test cricket because they have either been rain delayed or have scores of 4/705 vs 6/654. The first test this series been the very odd occasion of their being an exciting draw.

The ICC should make all test matches have the 6th day as a reserve day to make up all lost time due to rain/badlight/slow over rates etc etc, similar to how golf will go an extra day if rain has permitted a fourth round finishing.

Just my 2 cents anyway.

Flintoff hits Watto right in the forearm. Ouch! Credit to Watto though. He has just brushed it off and got on with it despite the fact that he'd be really hurting. My first thought was that with his luck he probably broke it but he's okay thankfully.

Yeah, that would've really hurt. He'd be in a fair bit of discomfort right now. I played with a bloke who was hit on the forearm. He kept batting and went on to make a ton. Turns out the arm was broken the whole time. Fair effort. I hope for Watto's sake his isn't the same.

Geez, Watto has surprised a few (including me) and done real well at the top of the order. I hope he can go on get the ton.

Also an ideal opportunity for Huss to do what he's always been good at, and that's being the rock in a difficult situation.

Very good first hour by the boys.

Good 50 to Hussey. It's an understatement to say he needed those runs.

Yes a big understatement RR, but credit where due it is a good knock so far and hopefully he can continue on and bat for another hour or two and get into some sort of form.

Would be interesting If Aus gets bowled out 1/2 before tea with a lead of 150. Wicket just looks like it keeping a bit low.
