And we all know this is not the time of season for them to be doing that.

According to a few Sturt mates who went to the Port game last week at Unley, the magpies are the worst team they've seen this year. So for the Dogs to win by just 6 goals tells me they were just playing to ensure the 2 points - not the right time to peak now, is it?

No they've both seen South and they were quite competative against us a few weeks ago....one of these mates actually put $20 on South at ~$3.50, a few mins before the opening bounce. Seemed reasonable odds to me. Quite surprised about the margin in this one, but not the result.

No excuses for the way that We are playing, that is a load of crap about Us not putting in because We don't need to, it's that time of year, we've stepped up the training etc., etc. Truth is, we're not playing well yet.

Of courseTimmy won't be there next year, this is his last year of contract & to be honest i don't think he wants to be there next year ( as coach ) but he's no quitter & he'll see the year out.
Wouldn't surprise me he'll stay involved in a smaller capacity next year with the League side coz he's a passionate Port man.

You can add selfless to that description. He has sacrificed his coaching reputation by blooding not less that 13 kids. These talented juniors are the ones to carry this club upwards in the next few years.

I hope Tim Ginever receives appropriate accolades for this contribution in the future.

I am quite happy with the way the doggies are progressing. There are signs that the form is building. The injiuries this year have unsettled the side and the returning players need a few games to pick up the pace. A 40 point win is a comfortable margin. No point in smashing teams all year and then losing the finals.

And no point running hot only to hit a bye. What we need to do is hit decent form first week back, then build from there to hit the finals running hot. Vital we get Havelberg and Schell back fit and in form for the finals. Our midfielders are fine and we have good depth there with a few good players in the reserves, but KPP are a bit thin with Matt Westhoff being pathetic, Mitch Frail a bit young and, well, frail. Hardy probably the only big you could really be happy to recall.

Agree, with Lawry playing fairly well down back will they maybe try Hardy as a CHF/FF. You would expect Hardy to hit every contest hard and atleast apply lots of defensive pressure.

Not a bad idea. With our quality crummers what we need is someone at CHF to make a contest and keep the ball in the area. The other option is to move Schell to CHB (where I think he plays his best footy) and Lawry to CHF. Maybe use one of our 3 ruckman as a permanent forward.
