I'm afraid that would just be an irrational thring for me to do Pseudo. Admittedly we are "due" against your team, but time will tell...

p.s. The umpiring at Prospect yesterday as the best I've seen all season. Well done to Dick and friends!

Bit of a backwards observation there. We learnt to play attacking football in the last 5 years which got us nowhere (and 7th last year).
If we can learn to play DEFENSIVE football we will be a force in the next few years.

Good to see Rick Macgowan at the game (and getting a nice park inside the ground) spending time chatting to Luke Norman.

The biggest question to come out of the day though - what the hell is going on with Chambo's hair (and Luke Crane's for that matter). They look like they've stepped off the set of an Austin Powers film...

I thought Crane was very average in the first half. Allan brought his own ball and our work on the defensive side of the centre stoppages was poor.

North took the ball away through Allan far too many times.

Reckon Normo gave Craney a serve at half time, becasue he went over and stood him a number of times, which he didn't do in the first half.

The tide turned a bit in the second half and Craney was more damaging with the ball also.

What do you mean about the hair CC?

I apologise for saying something positive about North's future. If you want to watch what they served up yesterday in years to come then be my guest. It was rubbish for NAFC and rubbish for the SANFL's customers. And IIRC it was you who was basking in the excitement of North played such ATTACKING football a few years back.

Obviously not as sharp as your good self Wedgie.
Looking at their club interviews, both in the last month, not really sure what your're talking about.

While Allen had a great game, I can't agree that Crane was 'very average' in the first half. True he lifted considerably in the second, but overall IMO he had one of his best games for us this year.

I can't believe you didn't notice the hair... Definitely gotta be some sort of bad hair comp going on...

Lowest number of groggies I've seen for many a year.

Sturt supporters certainly seemed to outnumber North supporters on the main terrace too

Got any figures for last year's crowds at Prospect there Spelly?

Great to finally get a win over the Roosters for year 2009. But from what I read earlier they had a few players out which could have affected the result somewhat. As one of our narrowest wins for the year, I am glad that they could storm away after half time, especially seeing that North matched us on the scoreboard up to half time. The confidence in our ability to secure the win while the contest is still alive is growing, it will be a much needed ingredient for success come finals time.

I'll post the averages since 2004:

2004: 3462 (9)
2005: 3223 (9)
2006: 3030 (7)
2007: 2768 (10)
2008: 2443 (10)
2009: 3009 (7)

So there has been an increase there this year.

Thanks Spelly. A bit of a surprise there, I thought that North would have had a better following in the two previous years, given the talk about attacking football and Jarman's desire to entertain.

from the mail today we won all 4 1/4's, gotta love that against a team that thumped us a while ago.

purch wrote:Biggest question of the day for mine was why D. White was started in the backlines after what he did to us last tiime, esp. given the absence of Alleway and Gill.

We beat the zone/flood today for the first time this year against a team we hadn't beaten previously; albeit with the aid of some "criss-cross" play ourselves. Not always pretty but I'm glad we have a plan B now when the oppostion go so defensive. At times with Jarman, North's league team used to be a joy to watch with their attacking style. Thrings have gone "sideways" or dare I say "backwards" it seems. Still, North are a young side and if they learn to play attacking football they can be a force in the next few years.

Let's hope we can conquer the Bays zone in a few weeks, in a similar manner. I have a feeling their foot and hands skills will be a tad more precise...

Some fair points there Purch. North's defensive game up until our last bye had been pretty good but since then we hesitant in moving it quicky, making some very poor and costly turnovers. What attacking game plan we had has gone due to the midfielders etc having no confidence in the forwards but the delivery and decision making about who to deliver the ball to is appallling as is the end product with some very poor execution. We really miss Alleway who "straightens' us up, competes all day and can turn a game. We are also missing Gilly with his versatility playing both up fwd, back and on ball. Two very good talls like those two missing out of any side and you would struggle.

White is carrying a "groin" but I prefer him at CHB however without Alleway or Gill we are limited in options up fwd especially with Schwarze woefully out of form HOWEVER we won the rucks easily, had as much of the ball as Sturt all over the ground and our inside 50 count was high but we just couldn't score.

No excuses however as Sturt were deserved winners and if they had kicked straight in the end would have had a 10 goal win. The comments on some of the previous posts about Crane not having any first half influence seem a bit harsh. From my vantage point he was a key all day IMO. His ability to break lines was excellent.

Also Sturt execute delivery to Chambers very well. A couple of "on the run" passes to him were spot on given North "flooded" back and the space was limited however Chambers showed what a great player he is by timing his leads to perfection and finding that space knowing that his teammates would more than likely put it on his chest. No fault of Macca who did pretty good job on him considering.

Very poor crowd however for 2 teams who over the past few years have had some very good turnouts. Being on ABC and up against the Crows doesn't help.
