But Timmy said they would come out fired up and maybe even win this week in the Messenger , ZZZZZZZZ.
So unlike Port Adelaide to talk the talk and not walk the walk

They probably did go out fired up. Just because they are fired up doesn't mean they will beat Central.

Dogs still not firing on all cylinders Dustche and Sully were brilliant.Schelly did not play second half hope his injury is not to bad as our forward structure is still a bit suss, hopefully Havalberg is not to far away as he is the player we are missing the most.

The midfield was the difference today as i would think most of them recieved well over 20 possesions and thommo and cocky coming off the half back line were great, loved Oharas goal in last quarter when intercepted pass and goaled on the run.

Centrals started slowly, letting Port kick the first goal and scores being even 14 minutes into the first quarter. Then Centrals turned it on and slammed on 5 unanswered goals to take a 30 point lead. Centrals started the second quarter as thet finished the first, kicking 2 early goals (and 7 unanswered) to race out to a 42 point lead. Disappointingly, Port then kicked 4 of the last 5 goals to reduce the lead to 25 points at half time. The third quarter was pretty even, although Centrals were wasteful in front of goal. The last quarter by Centrals was brilliant outscoring Port into the breeze. O'hara's goal intercepting the ball then running in was the highlight of the day. Umpires's best mate Brett Ebert tried to take on the Gowans and got his pants pulled down. Port totally capitulated in the last quarter, and became very undisciplined, with several undisciplined frees and 25 metre penalties given.

All up, one of our best wins this year.

A lot of that discrepancy in favour of the Dogs was of course due to the fact that James Meiklejohn was out for the Maggies with a hamstring injury...

I was speaking to the club Historian Robert Laidlaw after the game, the guru of all stats Central, and he said it is now 7 wins in a row over the Maggies, which is a new record for the Dogs...

Granted that the result was as expected, but where does this leave Timmy now? ... Unless they are really on their last legs (which I don't believe) the Maggies aren't going to accept 4 wins after R18?

Good win by the dogs and great to see the likes of Dutschke and O'Hara continue their good form in what could have been a danger game.

Only worry still is the forward set up. Giles was caught behind WAY to much for a forward. His ruck work at the moment is really good but i don't think he can hold down a position as a forward.

Would like to see Henderson given another crack, he always presents and due to his massive leap he seems to get to every marking contest and doesn't get out marked. Plus he has plenty of room for improvement IMHO.

And interesting to note the Port players were treated to a polite smattering of applause by the few fans gathered around their race. Applauded for their effort after losing by 40 points at Alberton? How times have changed. And even the dogs fans didn't give them a send off like most clubs get after being beaten.

Giles was good IMHO. Not his fault he made position and was given terrible supply. Those times he was "caught behind" he'd maneuvered himself to have that spot for the kick over the top. When you've got a 10cm height advantage a kick over the top is often very effective. If we'd given useful supply he'd have had 8 shots. Was also impressed with his chasing from full forward. A huge improvement in output from Matt Westhoff.

Only argument i have to that is when we were kicking against the breeze he continued to try and play behind his man and have the ball kicked over the top. IIRC his defender took between 3-5 uncontested marks.

I agree it was a huge improvement on M.Westoff, i still think Henderson is the man for that role.

Am very excited about the way Eddie Sansbury is working into the season. I think he is a massive wild card come finals especially when Roy uses in the forward line a bit more ofter, which im sure will happen.

Of courseTimmy won't be there next year, this is his last year of contract & to be honest i don't think he wants to be there next year ( as coach ) but he's no quitter & he'll see the year out.
Wouldn't surprise me he'll stay involved in a smaller capacity next year with the League side coz he's a passionate Port man.
