Haddin = Gilchrist
Manou = Healy

We wish. At least Manou can take a ball but Hadds has been making runs.

Everyone's crying about Hughes. Is it because our squad is shouse and there isn't a decent enough replacement for him at the top of the order or is it because his efforts in the series to date warrant his retention?

I'd suggest the former. Watto as an opener is a curly one given his record in that slot for the Bulls and many are saying that Hussey should be out or even North who has recorded a ton in this series. Once you take an experienced guy like Hussey on tour he aint gonna get dropped. They are backing him to come good. He scored a half century in that first innings when we got bowled out for diddly squat and racked up good runs at Worchester. True Hussey has been on the nose for a long time in Test Cricket but the selectors obviously reckon that Mr Cricket is about to turn the corner and that the team is already inexperienced enough.

Hughes at 20 has a long test career ahead of him. Right now it's all about winning the Ashes and with Hughes struggling to get around his hip at the crease and having 'nowhere to go' when the short stuff comes (plus that unforgivable cheat given to him by Andrew Strauss) then the poor kid is currently a walking wicket. We are one down and we had to mix it up somehow. I strongly believe that if we played Hughes in all five we might have ruined him. Plenty of players have bounced back better players after being dropped and I reckon Hughesy will be one of them.

As pleased as I am to see a South Australian in the side, I can categorically say that the South Australian in question is probably the fourth best in his discipline right now.

And despite 62 not out, I would have stuck with Hughes...

Yeah sorry i should have clarified i don't think either are as good as Gilchrist or Healy but moreso how they compare to each other IMHO.

WATTO 62* [well done to the selectors ...]
On day 2 perhaps WATTO should bat like these guys
HUGHES
KATICH
LANGER
HAYDEN
ROGERS
JAQUES
Bat left handed !!!!
When was the last time AU played a RH opening batsman at Test Level ????????????

Such was WATTOs debonaire out there that at 0/84 with SWANN when coming on to bowl the Poms had a deep long on.

SW are great initials in OZ cricket
Steve Waugh
Shane Warne
Shane Watto

Very good sportsmanship By EG to allow MANOU to debut
MANOU after one good season is playing test cricket
2 seasons ago he was lucky to be in the SA team
Batting in EG will be a lot harder than coming in for SA after KLINGER wore out the opposition

MANOU will save 20 behind the stumps on average in a Test Match compared to HADDIN
But HADDIN will make more with the bat
Also whilst HADDIN is batting he gets into good partnerships
IF MANOU gets out cheap then we lose those partnerships
To even suggest Choko is a better selection than HADDIN is ludicrous [in my opinion]

Check your records mal, Manou has been saving SA's arse for the past 2 seasons. Putting Watto in the same category as Waugh and Warne is disgraceful.

Slightly disagree, without having the exact stats right in front of me, i think Manou has generally made most of his runs when coming in at large scores eg, 4/310.

An interesting stat (not sure if possible though) would be what Manou averages when coming in with the score on less than 200.

That would be the case for most number 7's though WHUFC, they are generally better pitches thus making it easier to make runs. Still it would be interesting to see what the stats say.

Incorrect, I recall him coming in many a time when we were struggling and getting us to a respectable score, him and Dizzy vs Tassie IIRC was probably the best example, there hasn't been too many high scores for the Redbacks in the past couple of seasons.

MANOU
Until last season was too hit and miss with the bat
Can recall a 190 he made v TA to rescue us 2 seasons ago
But for every good innings he will let you down with a few failures when needed
In that particular season he made about 3 good scores and failed when needed a few times
Klinger has taken the shine of the ball for MANOU last season and made it easier

Who gives a rats arse anyway
He is a south Aussie and I hope he makes a big score on debut

I can read, you have written the same poo and added a bit more. You have categorized the 3 SW's as great initials in OZ cricket, two are, one isn't. Watto has enormous potential but can't keep himself on the park for long enough for the world to see how good he could be.

apparently it is a very bad Fracture for Haddin and they think he could miss the rest of the series and the one dayers. his X rays got taken straight to a specialist. he wanted to play though, he had to be told he wasent playing.
