Salopek, Carr and Meyer definate ins for the Bays (I assume Carr and Meyer are well again), possibly Logan and Douglas (on extended benches I understand).

Thomas and Walker get the call up - Walker to collect Frequent Flyer points....

Phil Harper said on 5AA that the travelling emergency will be confirmed tomorrow because there is possibly some doubt on Brett Burton who pulle up sore from the Showdown. There was also mention that with the Eagles having a bye, Jared Petrenko could be the travelling emergency. I've never understood why when a player is in good SANFL form and goes interstate as the TE but doesn't play, how that is a good thing for the guy in question, in that they go from playing well to having a week completely off from football...

Thought i herd Otten was in doubt for the Crows

He was, but Phil Harper mentioned he trained okay this morning but as I say, also mentioned that Burton was sore...

At first look I thought this could be a very interesting line-up for us.
To be honest, even if we get a flogging, it could be an entertaining experiment.
A chance to take stock and try a few new things, with new players, for future reference.
My only major concern is the Bay forwards. I seem to remember they have some talls
and good leapers that might be asking a bit too much of Jackman and co.
With all the close SANFL finishes this season, ya just never know what could happen.
I seem to remember a past Glenelg coach who always used to talk about having
‘A Silly Chance’.
;)
C’mon Norwood faithful, let’s get there in big and vocal numbers.

p.s. What’s Graham Campbell doing these days. Anyone know ?

Graham is a regular around the Bay. Can be found in any of the Jetty Bar, Holdy or Broady regularly. Top fella. Always up for an chat. Particularly likes telling the stories of how he was shafted at the end of 84 after being promised the job. Will talk all day about the opportunities he gave to guys like Symonds and the Stringer lads. Glenelg burnt him badly.
He's retired and a really really veyr funny man to listen to.

Most people would be pleased to have 4 AFL players (and a magarey medalist :D ) as inclusions but I'm just not sure ... I'm hoping the AFL listed players don't go up and down like yo-yos in the next 6 weeks.

I dare say we'll have Carr for the rest of the season, unless the Crows get injuries probably Dougie for a while, Meyer will just about see the year out with us, if anyone it'll be Sal who goes up n down.....

Look, don't get me wrong, they're welcome players, but it will make it difficult to settle the team in the leadup to the finals, which is not the time to muck around. There's Tommy Logan in the mix as well (not this week though it seems).

I'm not sure I share your assumptions about their movements for the rest of the year ... time will tell.

Has Steve Salopek qualified for finals for the Bays yet or is this only his 2nd game in the yellow and black so far in 2009 ?

Ahh he hasn't played any games in yellow and black, but this will be his 2nd in black and gold...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Agree with that Jabba Jaw - Salopek would still have a very high rating at Alberton.

Although the unknown with Power listed players might depend on how quickly they put the cue in the rack if finals become out of their reach, and whether they take a strict stance on them with 2010 in mind.

According to me, this will be Salopek's 2nd game.

I don't pretend to understand the 3 game rule to be honest so I don't know if he's qualified by playing a phantom game, like Richard Douglas has done. ;)

Is that Nick from the Saints or Jack from Richmond Jabber, pretty handy recruit, but starting on the bench

Obviosuly it is Mark Ruwoldt mate, no relation to the AFL stars...

Would have been a pretty handy to have either of those blokes in the Bays side with all the other AFL inclusions deja ;)

I think the Phantom game counts when a player is held back from SANFL duties because they are an emergency for the AFL club and they chose not for the player to play in the local league in case there was any doubt on another player.

That all said, I thought it was only Salopek's 2nd game and that he hadn't been in that 'Phantom game' situation. If he qualifies for the finals for the Tigers, along with their other AFL listed players that are qualified (providing of course they are all permitted to play by the Crows and Power) Glenelg would surely be a very hard side to beat in the major round !!

We'd better hope that the dropped AFL players are all loafers going through the motions, because that side looks like one that could give us a fearsome touch-up.

While AFL clubs can always screw us over at the last minute, the fact that Walker is named in Norwood's side should mean that he won't be required by his AFL side. Including as a 23rd man/travelling embergency.
