His response to the girls reluctant answer is sick and he's surely gone over the top now.

The Mother is just as much to blame for putting her girl through this too.

SAFM shock jock Kyle Sandilands' career has been put on the line by a lie-detector stunt that ended in a humiliated teen girl admitting she had been raped at the age of 12.

The 14-year-old girl was peppered with questions about whether she had ever had sex before she broke down, revealing the rape ordeal.

Under pressure from her mother to reveal if she had ever had sex, the girl broke down and revealed she had been raped.

Sandilands first response to the horrifying revelation was ”Right, is that the only experience you have had?”

The segment briefly continued with the girl’s mother admitting she knew of the rape, before co-host Jackie O intervened and shut the segment down and offered the girl and her mother counselling.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Community Services, Linda Burney, said DOCS was seeking to speak with the girl's mother.

She said caseworkers wanted to provide urgent help to the girl to ensure she receives counselling.

If police were not alerted at the time of the rape, the spokeswoman said DOCS would inform them now.

The minister's office today also questioned the appropriateness of the segment for radio.

Ms Burney was furious after listening to the segment and said Sandilands and Jackie O were only interested in entertainment and shock value and not the girl's welfare.

The 104.1 Today FM breakfast hosts - who host the "Hour of Power" every weeknight on SAFM - heavily promoted the segment, which aired just after 8am this morning. SAFM says it will not air the stunt.

On their website, the station boasts: "Cheating, drinking, lesbian marriage - we've revealed it all as we strap Sydney into the dreaded Lie Detector.''

Austereo's General Manager Jenny Parkes said: "2Day FM were saddened by the turn of events this morning.

"In the normal course of preparing the segment all due care and consideration was given to the family and clearly we didn’t know anything about this traumatic incident.

"The moment we became aware of it was live on air and we brought it to an end as soon as we possibly could.

"As is only appropriate, we are offering all the assistance we can to the family, including counselling, in what is of course an extraordinarily difficult situation.”

I'd be very suspicious as to whether or not they are real or actors.

A few of those Jerry Springer type shows here were proved to be using actors not so long back. Must admit I never watch or listen to them...even if they are genuine I find the idea of people falling over themselves to reveal every unpleasant detail of their lives in public pretty disgusting. It's like the medical ones too...people supposedly spend years hiding some embarrassing condition but suddenly they're quite happy to reveal all on national tv...yeh right.

The FM Radio segment is pumping out more and more rubbish every day. Just listen to some of the so called 'celebrities' on local radio, particularly at breakfast. A well known trio in particular who advertise incessantly on TV must think everyone has the mentality of an adolescent. The rubbish they come up with, but they apparently are well paid for this lack lustre
entertainment.
None of them though appear to have the nastiness or the more revolting personality traits of Sandilands.

While it was a stupid thing for the show to do, there may be more to it, and we should not assume it is as simple as it sounds.
In my past professional life I have met sexually active girls as young as 10, and not all of them had an obvious trigger, like past rape or molestation.
And not all claims of rape turn out to be true - even in this age group.

Exactly. How the mother can know her child has been raped, but put her on radio, strapped to a lie detector and have questions thrown at her about sex anyway, is just unfathomable.
