Not a great follower of the game Rugby, but from what I have seen, there is another 2 that would take to it at the highest level given time IMO..
Billy Slater and Israel Falou ( sorry if spelt wrong )

No no, Leave Billy alone, we still want the storm to be a strong outfit!

i am not sure when he is out of contract, but with this happening and the draft being compramised in 2010,11,12 i am sure a couple of AFL clubs will call his managment and get him to have a kick with there sides

So you would assume Karmichael Hunt would be receiving quite abit more coin in the AFL than the NRL, not to mention the amount he will get through endorsements , as you would expect he would be the one the sponsors want marketing their brand, and him to be the face of the Gold Coast AFL team in QLD.

On melbourne radio this morning it was stated that he may be getting 500K a year. Which is about 200K more a year than he was getting with the broncos.

He turned down a 1.2 Million 3 year deal at the Bronco's so only 100k if the figures are correct.
wow you must be on some big coin to be able to say ONLY 100k lol wish i could say that

last week i was looking at there website and some articles, and the AFL has not decided if they will play in the VFL or the QAFL yet. I am thinking they will play in the QAFL, and maybe this signing could have something to do with it. its a massive marketing ploy for the GC. and at the same time, a professional athlete like this, i would be very suprised if he doesnt make it.

Imagine GC v Brisbane, brown v hunt. Would be some special viewing! i wouldnt be running near karmichael thats for sure.

why is he starting with GC17 in May? why not straight after the rugby season for the pre-season? I think one year of learning the game again, would be beneficial before the team enters the AFL. i cant wait to see how he goes next year.

Ahhh, thanks CK - my knowledge of NRL is limited!

So in comparison, this would be similar to say Joel Selwood quitting AFL to play NRL?

LOL, if true, the GC are splurging on a fella that's never played any senior footy at any level?

Makes sense to me. :-s

He's going to play a season of Rugby Union first.

The marketability it will give the GC franchise will be worth 500K a year no worries. He is one of the biggest names in QLD sport and will help raise the profile of the AFL on the gold coast no doubt. He will also be able to make the transfer, if O'Hailpin can go from Gaelic footy i have every confidence Hunt can transfer from Rugby as he won't have the issues of learning the game.

Sorry, my mistake. I assumed that GC were setting up a football club, but then I remembered it will be in the AFL, so it's just going to be a money making business venture.

Correct me if i am wrong but in todays paper they say his payments are not included in the GC salary cap?? Apparantly same rule that brings gaelic footballers to senior AFL level.
