I was level with the goal line on that one, but was at the other end of the ground for Grima's so will take everyone's word for it. The goal ump definitely wanted to give Grima's as a rushed behind at first.

Form side. We have limped to quite a few wins this year, and I feel we are extremely lucky to be in the position we are on the ladder. We drew with last years Premiers who flogged us on the Big Day last year, and have given us convincing losses since then. I'd say that yesterday's result is a positive for the Bays and not that big a worry for Centrals. I'm happy with the result, and the fact we have players to come back in, as well as quite a few skill errors to correct, The Bays are mentally tougher this year, and hopefully may have learnt from the pain of losing when it truly counts !

Did the Bays really have 22 more Inside 50's?

i think it was 21 the difference, but apart from the first quarter we consistantly had more of the ball inside of our attacking 50, adn apart from 5-20 minutes towrards the end of the first quarter i didnt think centrals were ever bossing the game.

good to see tony dey fnally get a mention for some deplorable umpiring he has been consistantly far and way the worst umpire in the sanfl for the last 2 years and ive seen him at both league and reserves level.

for the mcconnell baggers he had 5 scores and 5 score assists which is a pretty good return i would suggest

also surpising to see the stats in the sunday mail were lmost exactly the same as those recorded by us, easily the closest in the 5 years that i have been taking stats for glenelg.

a question for spelly, in the last 2 weeks we have scored less goals than the opposition but havent lost either of the games, when was teh last time this happened?

i thought the first 10 mins we controlled the game, then centrals gained the upper hand but we really let ourselves down by letting centrals get 3 goals in 4 1/2 mins in the time on period.

the game was fairly even, never lost confidence that we could get a result given centrals are probably in the middle of the heavy training schedule so their legs would be heavy and we do have some good runners in the team.

it was good the lads never gave up given the situation, but before the game I was very confident we would win comfortably

im glad we are playing like this now, cos if we ever played like that in a final it would be all over by 1/2 time - we really need to work on midfielders hitting the leading forwards and then the forwards actually need to go back and make it count.

Is the siren at the Bay the hardest to hear out of all the grounds. Must admit I have missed it a few times there but assumed it is easier for the umpires to hear it on the ground as that is where it would be directed.

I'm a big fan for lighting at the Bay, but for FFS get the bloody sound system sorted out first. You can't hear the siren on the eastern side when there's more than 2000 at the ground. I won't buy another club raffle ticket/s until I can hear the winning number at 3/4 time. That's my gripe.

I was in the northern stand for the first three quarters, and with the siren in that stand it was quite loud. I spent the last quarter near the north-eastern entrance, and the siren was barely audible. In fact, I only knew the game was over when the umpire in the middle of the ground had his hands in the air to signal full time! The PA system (which is a pile of speakers in between both stands) isn't much better either - I could barely hear it in the first three quarters (and I was quite close to it)!

Interesting that Gliderol Stadium's siren is quiet considering they have an electronic siren - is it as simple of turning the volume up?

duttchske's (not sure of his spelling) 3rd goal & grimas in the last quarter evened out as both were not goals with the former being clearly over the goal line after watching the replay this morning & grima's came from above his knee

Just a couple of calls that could have gone either way I guess, though must disagree with your first call re Dutschke's goal. Happy to point out by PM exactly why if you're interested, though with that camera angle (same end) really hard to for sure in either of those two cases IMO.

Whilst our opinions on the above are academic, what is for sure is that both Tony Dey and the goal umpire involved in Grima's goal should be made to re-read Rule 12.1.5 (see page 43 of this) and write it out 100 times on the blackboard before leaving training this week. Should be basic stuff at this level.
