A shame the umpires didn't see the punches to the face that McIntyre or Davis received.

Which one was hitting Cheep in the face ?Because he got back more than he gave perhaps he'll pick on some one bigger next time(you have to love small skinny ex vfl players they can be very tough nuts).Dale Symmons while he got hit in the face could get work in the WWE he fell just like a wrestler. ;) Mind u the north player should get a game or two,but will get off its the SANFL.
And this brings up that old chestnut umpires standing and looking into the sun.So many frees to both sides missed due to the sun yesterday . The umpires director must not read this site.

Terrible effort by North - skill level was deplorable and you can't win games of football playing 1 quarter per week.

Didn't see the Allan report (too far away) but if he gets games then there would have to be questions asked as to how Salter wasn't reported for his cowardly king hit on Davis? How the umpire can pay a down the field free and not report the player is beyond me??? Mind you Salter should have been pinged twice before that for a late charge and throwing some big punches at McIntyre shortly after. I thought his off ball stuff spoilt his very good game.

Anyhow the best side on the day won and maybe on the balance of play should have won by more.

Salter played a magnificent first half with 7 goals - in the 3rd qtr we then become too reliant on him and instead of shooting for goal and kick goals that would normaly be kickable from 35 - 50 out from goal they decided to try and hit up Salter. Surely the Power will recall him now. With Trent showing that he can play good footy down back it might mean we can afford to play Kenny McG up forward more often. Sumner appeared to have received an injury and appears might be out for season, Powell did a groin in the 2's and is probably out for season - aparently we didn't have a bench for the major part of the 2nd half in the 2's - Besides that we had up to about 8 under 18's playing as well so I wasn't all that surprised when I saw the final score line. A good win by the A's today and we can expect to see Treeby back probably for the game against South - I spoke to him after the game and he said he's about 2 weeks ahead of schedule and can't wait to get back out there with the rest of the boys. Big Chopper should be back against South as well but 2009 is the last time we will see him in Eagles colours as he is heading back home to Victoria at season's end. All in all a good win but if we are going to threaten any of the top 3 we must start playing 4 quarters of footy not just 3. I think the Eagles can still have an impact come finals time but we must start turning it on from now on - it all starts in 2 weeks time at the parade against the Redlegs.

I would still like to know why Cheep and to a lesser extent Goldsworthy start on the bench .

I didn't see the supposed king hit handed out by Salter that your refering to but surely you are kidding me when you say he should have been pinged for a late charge. You can't pull out of a contest when your in mid-air drebin - Salts did all the right things he turned his body so the hit was made side on to lessen impact. Any punches thrown in the Mcintyre direction after that was in retaliation for the shit thrown his way from the 2 or 3 roosters.

Agreed I would be starting Cheep on the ground week in week out - he's turned into one of our rare recruiting success stories.

the punches were thrown when the roosters stood up for their teammate. the hit was late, they gave him a shove and he came back swinging.

it is funny when later in the game a similar looking situation with a north player arriving late did result in a 25m penalty, but his 2 late hits were let go?

Firstly is it really that difficult? His name is spelt Allan not Allen. So many people seem to have a lot of trouble with such a simple concept. I guess there are just a lot of very simple people around. It's not like this hasn't been pointed out over and over again for the past 3 years but still people can't get it right.

As for the report, i was less than 10 metres from it and it was extremelly soft. As for the umpire "clearly" seing the punch to the face you are kidding surely. He was on the wrong side to be able to see the contact and was guessing. The contact was made with a forearm and was minimal. In the AFL he'd be looking at a week maybe but there should be no problems here are rightly so. Princess Symmons milked it for everything it was worth. He should get up like a man next time but perhaps that would be foreign to him.

Makes my point week after week umpires stand on the incorrect side ie looking into the sun every week at every oval.
Princess Symmons dont think so mate pretty sure most SANFL AFL footballers would drop like a bag of spuds for a 25 or 50 m penalty.
If he was a princess wouldn't he have been the player wearing white ;)that's the colour princess wear in the movies ;)

Funny how you guys are talking about Salts from my vantage point in the G/s .I watched two north back men niggle him all day.And the little todo one north back men had with Cheep was little Cheep sticking up for his team mate Salts who kept his cool .
Funny how the big bad North player in white ;) came off second best to the much smaller goal kicking Cheep. Seems North went back to a game plan that Jars used once against the eagles(at Fortress Woodville) it worked for Jars but not for the new coach. ;)

Re: Eagles vs North Review

Interesting game yesterday, similar to the game at Prospect early in the year.

The pressure from the Eagles in the first half cut out North's quick movement and caused them to overuse the ball. Third quarter was a total role reversal, seemed like they had swapped gurnseys at half time, North got the ball out of the middle way to easily James Allan seemed to be in everything (like he always does against us) and Eagles didn't seem to have any answers, but fortunately they dug a bit deeper and found something when it mattered. Thought Hentschel, Rimmington and Grocke were excellent yesterday, Salter's first half looked like he had a point to proove but he dropped off a bit in the second half.
Seemed to be a little bit of niggle right from the start when Dabrowski and Ackland clashed in the middle, most of it seemed pretty harmless though, think James Allan will probably get a reprimand, was careless more than anything.

Ended a good day by going to the Sportsmans Night at the club, Wayne Phillips is a great host, Damien Flemming was excellent and then there was Warwick Capper....he is certainaly a different individual but dont think he is as silly as he makes out!
Trust the process.

From what I heard, Columbo summed it up best. Capper was interesting......

One of the players mentioned to me that there was no timeline in his speech, no continuity of things to talk about and was just generally rambling on about himself..... But he mentioned the f and c words letting himself down.

Isnt that what Capper does though???
