Surface was and is fine, its not asthetically pleasing on TV but walk across it and there is nothing wrong with it

Being a summer grass the frosts kill it this time of year

Blaming it for turnovers is a bit rich!

Maybe thats why the dogs didnt win Bruce?

Forgot to add,m at least we kicked straight this week!

19.36 in the last 2 weeks

Agree with most of the sentiments here about Macca but he had some of that old verve back yesterday .. footy smarts you might call it. He was often in the right place at the right time and kudos to him, kicked the tying goal on the siren (not that I heard it either).
He'll certainly get the opportunity to hold his place in the side which is one he deserves. Thought Hally was our best.
And yes, it felt like a win.

Is the siren at the Bay the hardest to hear out of all the grounds. Must admit I have missed it a few times there but assumed it is easier for the umpires to hear it on the ground as that is where it would be directed.
I thought the Bays would have won that game yesterday by 5 or 6 goals, they were in good form ( more so than Centrals ) and at home. Great result for the dogs to at least go home with a point .
Does kind of stuff things up for Sturt though, but in reality I think the Bays will finish top anyway. Top 3 is what the Bays, Dogs & Blues will be aiming for.

Bays still arent fully switched on, maybe thats a good thing? Dogs seem to be struggling with their last 1/4's of late, is that fair?

The flood kings didnt dissappoint today have all 18 playes in the I50 late in the 3rd when kicking with the wind  :? then in the last 1/4 Laird seemed to do a Neil Craig and go all defensive again!

Kirby's dropping a sitter that led to the Dogs only goal in the last 1/4 was pretty disappointing

Was a good solid contest....probably the hit out both teams needed

well done macca, will only get better from here

Ryan Williams fan club wasnt impressed today!

Good day at the footy and good to catch up with UK Fan, Royal City, whufc and meet Sam_Udogs for the first time

Was a good day Dutchy. Good game of footy. I think we just saw the two sides that will be playing in the GF.

No, the surface didn't cost us the win (we made more turnovers fron poor passing than legspin from an ordinary surface), but it did cause a couple of turnovers when players were on the run, and the ball didn't bounce true because of the surface. It happened to Sansbury in the second quarter, and there were a couple other instaces where the surface affected play.

can you explain how it looks like the dogs choked? 1 straight goal into the wind... against 4.4. Pretty similar amount of scoring shots through the 2nd and 3rd qtrs. I'd say struggled to hold on.... but definitely not a choke.

um...up for 4 goals at 3/4 time and not win...simple choke

Considering your lack of recent finals success and the result of last years Qualifying Final, its a bit rich to call the Dogs chokers...

Not real hard to figure out the motivation behind that call was it Apostle.

Brucetiki wrote:Centrals started off with the breeze, and at quarter time wasn't sure if we've taken full advantage of it. Whilst we're fiercely attackung the ball and generating Glenelg turnovers, somee of our passing was quite ordinary.

In the second quarter, after Glenelg got back to within a kick, it was pretty much all Centrals as they took control of the game. Highlight was Sansbury's running goal halfwst through the quarter creating by constant pressure from the midfieldresulting in a clearance and goal. Our constant harrassment of any Glenelg player with possession caused plenty of turnovers. The second quarter was some of the best football we've played all year.

The third quarter was a tight, torrid third quarter where Glenelg dominated the first half and Centrals the second.

Centrals should have finished off Glenelg in the last but a combination of a lack of killer instinct and Glenelg not giving up saw the draw eventuate. These final quarter fadeouts have to be addressed because we can't be doing this in finals, and they're just around the corner.

All up, we drew with the form side of the competition, which still gives us somewhat of an edge over Glenelg - particularly if/when we play them in finals on a bigger ground and superior surface.

We drew with the form side of the competition? We didn't play $turd!

Was a bit stunned with a draw. I thought that we did enough to win but went defensive too early. Can't really complain about the umps as they were an improvment on last weeks.

Trying to be positive - we have probably got ourselves in a position where we will be top 3 and are gradually improving. Our defence was good yesterday. Should have our act together by finals time.

When you consider the prize for Centrals was pretty much gaining top spot, and for Glenelg it was holding on to top spot, the draw will certainly seem like a Glenelg win, particularly when they were trailing all day.

Centrals had plenty of opportunities to kill the contest off during the 3rd and 4th qtr and really only have some of their terrible skill errors to blame, I think Centrals are probably making more skill errors this season than any of the last 5 seasons, players missing short simple targets, playing on and taking a stupid option that results in a turnover, and also on a couple of occasions over the last few weeks, bouncing and losing control of the ball on a surface you clearly shouldn't be trying to bounce the ball on, are all things that are costing us dearly, and really shouldn't be happening at this level.

On the umpires, there were plenty of soft frees yesterday, but for what its worth i thought Centrals probably had the better of it overall, particularly in the 1st half.

Indeed. Consider that the Eagles also have a draw on the board, so now the Blues' three closest competitors are basically unaffected by Sturt's vastly superior percentage. Quel dommage!

i thought tony dey's over umpiring in the first term was diabolical both teams got very soft frees that wont even be paid in todays netball grand final & those 25 metre penalties were even worse...to all umpires just let the game go & just pay the blatant free kicks PLEASE

duttchske's (not sure of his spelling) 3rd goal & grimas in the last quarter evened out as both were not goals with the former being clearly over the goal line after watching the replay this morning & grima's came from above his knee

i was rapt with the persistence & never give up attitude of glenelg today & i'm sure both teams can improve in the coming months & they'll be playing deep in to september & perhaps (both) in october again
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

The only team that choked was the Bays they missed a lot of easy goals and should of won, taped the game and watched it Grima's second goal was not a goal, tv commentators stated a very controversial decision, it came off his knee not a goal under the rules however i watched it over and over and Grima did not make contact with the ball, as the ball came of a pack and was not kicked over the line, the goal umpire was about to give a point the right decision.

However umpire Dey decides to trot in and overrule the goal umpire who had a birdseye view how could Dey see if it was a goal if he was behind the pack of players has he got xray vision ??????

Sansbury, Williams and especially Westhoff should be dropped agree with other posters they are not up to scratch when the pressure is on.

Get em out !!

and the Doggies 5th goal was a foot over the line before it was kicked ... so each disputed goal evens itself out. ;)

Umpiring had no bearing on the result.
