Do we really have to talk about the umpires? In short, deplorable!

umpiring ... only issue I had was the goal umpire who thinks the goal line is a foot further back than what it is at the southern end (the Louts will know what I'm talking about).

The game ... another strange one.

I felt the Doggies gained control of the game with those last 3 goals in the first (except no. 5 ... see above).

After that it was basically an arm wrestle for the next 2 1/2 quarters.

The Doggies for reasons only known to them, tried to shut the game down with 15 mins to go, which backfired as the Bays were more agressive and positive in those last 15 mins.

2 goals in last 2 mins and it's a draw.

Apart from salvaging an unlikely draw in the end, not too much to take out of the game but the same problem rears its head ... the lack of system and composure up forward resulting in dreadful kicking for goal again.

Good draw (win) for Bays, 84 point turn around from ANZAC Day, missing key players, let down by poor kicking.

Tosser Dogs supporter near by, gave it to McConnell all day and Glenelg in general. Funny when things were getting close he started on Leigh Westoff who in the Dogs fans defence was poor.

Good crowd, me thinks 4000 - 5000.

Leigh westoff played in the reserves i think you are talking about Matty W and yes he had a shocking day!(I think he is close to getting a run in the ressies)
As for McConnell he has to be the laziest player in the SANFL as he is constantly rewarded for his lack of effort in not chasing his opponent and when the ball turns over due to our skill errors (Hands up Ryan Williams etc) he is usually 30 meters behind the play.
But when it comes to finals and the pressure is turned up he is found wanting,i really wonder if he is in Glenelgs best 21 when everyone is up and running,i don't believe so.

But overall a hard fought good game of footy, looks like the finals this year will be tough and hard and will come down to the top 3.

1/4 time and not unhappy with the score, given the breeze, though Central had the better of the play. Glenelg's 2 goals both scored within a few minutes, and Justin McConnell had a hand in both.

1/2 time and a little disappointed. Glenelg wasted the breeze. Central playing very well; had numbers at the man and at the contests all quarter.

3/4 time and hopeful. To match Central's score while kicking into the breeze was a good effort. Thought the Bays were a chance, though not confident.

20 minutes into the final term and all hope was given up. Central had played a perfect defensive game to that point. Had numbers at every contest, a pack at every ball-up, and had throttled the life out of the game. Full marks to 'em. It ain't pretty football but they do it well.

Full time and the entire hill stood there slack-jawed as the Bays had salvaged an unlikely draw. Very, very happy with the Bays' persistence. Yet one still wonders what might have been.... again more scoring shots, again dominant on the stats sheet (ahead in every category, according to the ABC - I got home in time to catch the tail end of their telecast). Had something like 17 forward entries to 3 in the last term! Yet still didn't win. Plenty of room for improvement.

Umpires were garbage, but not biased. I don't reckon they could keep up with the intensity of the game. Decisions were simply arbitrary. Got some obvious ones wrong, missed a lot of obvious ones.

our goalkicking again let us down badly, during the first 3 and a half qtrs it seemed the dogs would kick away everytime we got close, they tried to bottle it up towards the end and paid half the price. williams and his mates really need to get together, too often one magot would pay a free and the same situation down the ground wouldnt be paid by another magot. good effort by our blokes in the end to never give it away, i thought we were gone right up until the last kick of the match. well done macca today, he proved me wrong and was a very handy contrbutor

Hard to observe the game in details, with interruptions by my anklebiters most of the day.

Don't get to see reserves, but I thought constantly seeing McConnells name in the best players etc., I was expecting more from him.

He may have assisted in a few goals and obviously kicked the one at the end to seal the draw, bu doesn't seem to work as hard some others guys.

With a potential list of Backwell, Holmes, Meyer, Duldig, & maybe Carr, Logan, Douglas, Hinge??? come September/October, I think McConnell would struggle to make the best 21.

Most the people standing around myself on the outer side didn't even hear the siren and hence at first didn't even realise it was ga

Draw leaves empty feeling, but better than a loss, as I don't have to pay out on my bets I made with Dogs supporters

I saw the umpiring was diabolical. But how was Richard? Did he have his socks up, the sweatbands straight and that ever present winning smile? Did he throw the ball up straight with due warning for the rucks? Congratulations on 400 madcap funfilled saturday afternoons Richard.

maybe ... but sometimes it feels slightly better when you get out of gaol than giving up the lead.

That basically sums up 90% of my thoughts of the game.

The umpires yep they made mistakes but so too did the players so to me Meh, they didn't impact the outcome of the game.

I reckon both teams can take a lot out of the game it augars well for the finals series. I can see another Glenelg Centrals GF coming up if both teams show the same intensity they did today for four quarters. We have a few outs at the minute as do the Dogs. They are in hard training and ATM we are ramping it up too.

Gotta say I do like watching the Dogs play and their discipline to stick to their roles and do the team things. It was when we did that in teh lat half that we finally started to look the goods.

A very handy point to us as it keeps our destiny vis-a-vis the top spot in our own hands.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

agreed they ruined a good game of football. Ridiculous free kicks and non free kicks all day.

Dogs very unlucky to lose that one.

That's Central Districts first draw in 14 seasons! Round 7 1995 against West was the last time Central had a draw.
And Glenelg have become the 2nd club to have drawn against all the other 8 current clubs, after West became the first in Round 2.

Matthew Westhoff and Ryan Williams - this is where to post your match payments for today's effort - as bad as McConnell is for the Bays.

Please Roy - drop them both until they can take a mark, and kick 11 metres without missing a target by 3!

P.S. Umpiring much better than last wek. Much better. Much bet... Much b... Muc... M...
