I'll save it up and use it later but I don't think Glenelg SHOULD be receiving such favouritism for the spoon...
Is 2009 the year of the Tiger?

As for the 'Spoon' I believe there are at least three or four sides who will likely be there before the Blues, namely South, West, Glenelg and possibly Norwood as they are in financial dire and have done as much recruiting as we have...

Based on last seasons results, that should be all the recruiting we need

In all seriousness though, how much effect should the off-field financial situation have?? (provided of course, the players receive all monies they are due)

So long as you have a list capable of playing consistent, winning football, then off field goings on are not the be all and end all I suppose, in fact being stable financially doesn't always equate to success on the field.... Look at the Panthers and 'Bays.

However, it is going to become increasingly difficult to compete when you have the likes of North and port splashing the big dollars. I am immensely proud of the Sturt Football Club and their ability to remain in the top three clubs in the league over the last eight years on a shoestring budget. Having said that, our pokie and tavern ventures have come in the nick of time.........

Flag - North (if they don't win it i will be amazed.)
Big Improver - West Adelaide
Big Slider - Sturt
Spoon - Glenelg (hate to say it but atm it looks that way, by the time all recruiting by all clubs has been done that might change though.)

Can i use a lifeline.I think it is going to be a very close year with probably upto 4 teams with huge premiership chances which everyone would already know who but i will do it anyway.

I hope Centrals will win but will have to see our recruiting in the coming weeks.
I think North will be hard to beat with all the recruiting(but that is no guarantee)
Port the same as North recruiting will help but again doesnt guarantee
Eagles are as consistent as Centrals so will be a good side again next year.

As for the spoon, not sure i think Norwood might be left behind with recruiting, but they have a good base, but i think the wooden spoon could be out of West or Glenelg.

As for the others they might be around the middle, i think it might a four horse race but it still should be interesting and the other sides could still surprise

Well r+b,we can see you dont do much reading, take a step back in time and have a look at the recruiting North have done this year.Oh,and South, not that it will amount to much.

That statement is based on the fact that I do read, booney. I read that Port were just short of the salary cap last year and have lost Brown and Funcke. I've read that they have picked up Bullen, Baird, Alvey, Morrison and Poulton. Presumably several players are going to take massive pay cuts to fit them in. I've previously read that they had already recruited Waterhouse, Meiklejohn, Elstone & DePasquale. I suspect that Corey AhChee is on a reasonable payment.

I've also read that Jeremy Clayton is the highest paid player in SA and I could have a reasonable guess at what money was offered to some of these players by other clubs. These offers were obviously not high enough.

I agree with you about North and South, booney and I agree that it doesn't guarantee success.

However, I'd be happy if you can convince me that Port aren't mega-dollars over the salary cap with that playing list.

Agree with that, but I'll pencil Norwood in for 5th spot.

The positions on the lower rungs of the ladder will be determined in part by luck, in part by what happens over the off season.

Premiers will be North but I still will not write off the doggies. The eagles will Finish Third.
Westies will be big improvers hopefully they will make the Five. I hold hopes for the Bloods to win the flag.
I feel its back to the dark old days out at Artic Park where it can be a warm sunny day and you will still catch a cold.
My ladder is this
1 & 2 North or Centrals.
3. Eagles
4. Port
5. West
6. Sturt
7. Norwood
8. Glenelg
9. South

Centrals to finish in the "Top 3", Stuart Dew qualified for the finals and kicks 5 goals in the Grand Final against South Adelaide, which was pivotal in the 27 point victory, giving the mighty Dogs "Four in a row".

3rd Eagles
4th North again
5th Norwood

6th Port
7th Glenelg
8th Sturt
9th West
