Pech and Bain are far better than the kids you compared them to, because they have proven it at this level and higher.

The kids you are talking about may be good in the future but runs on the board count for a lot.

As i thought, the only people to say Bain and Pech are any good on here are Angaston people and Skipper, but he thinks Angaston beat us in Rd 1 so i think we can discount his opinion. I stick by what i have said and we will see this saturday wont we.

And for that, not even a 50 m penalty, just a paid mark he was unable to take. Where's the consequence towards the player who hit him ???

The 50 may have come from the contact to the head, but i think it was awarded afterwards. I could be wrong. I spoke to the player afterwards and he was trying to spoil. People in marking contests get elbows, fists, forearms, and headbuts all the time not all of them are paid free kicks.

Both lots of supporters will naturally try and protect their sides and there seems to be two differing opinions. The fact is that the AFL has made it loud and clear that the head is protected and we are seeing players getting rubbed out whether it be intentional or not. What has happened here is exactly why that rule should be upholded whether the Barossa player was only trying to spoil. The real issue as far as most Freelings supporters are concerned is the reaction of the Barossa crowd.

Wearecoming you are asking for a neutral opinion on Bain & Pech, well both are guns especially young Pech, just a great young fair player. At this stage Ango have the bragging rights over your mob after round 1, so the pressure is on you.

Skipper- Im sure if you check your facts we smashed angaston on their own dunghill in round 1

dont no how you can call a very good oval like ango a dunghill when you are from gawler centerals.

Your obviously young and wet behind the ears Checkside. Angaston oval is a dunghill, it stinks and the whole competition is lucky we have been in a drought and it has been pretty good for the last couple years. I remember playing there ankle deep in mud across the whole ground. The dog track is the best playing surface in the competition IMO

Wrong on both counts. Reliable source informs me an announcement will be made very soon and neither Nelson or Oconnor will be in charge next season. Watch this space....

Yes you did win in round 1, well done. As far as Bain & Pech go, you asked for a neutral decision and you got one and you don't seem happy with it because it does not agree with you simple tunnel vision of black & gold. Correct me if I'm wrong but did Bain play in the recent zone championships and whats more he made it into the team of the carnival on the wing, so I think there are few others out there that rate him.

Chances are that you will win on sat but there is no need to tarnish good players like this that have achieved more this season than any of yours.

Yes you are right, We are coming, Centrals probably does have the best playing surface, although Willaston is pretty good, the trouble is you probably get mugged getting to the changerooms. The first time I went to play there and find the changerooms, I wasnt sure which shed/ warehouse to walk into, in case I interrupted a drug deal. It was like a scene out of Underbelly :D

What is this, a GC v Ango thread? I'm sure the only thing that matters is the result of their games, not the personel or grounds!!!

Personally I think both clubs are at the same stage of development, a number of youngsters, new coaches, etc and are both fine sides this year!!

i like that drifter all of it is true beside the playing surface i think that willaston and kapunda are better playing fields.

and i have been around for awhile we are comming and it is like any other oval when there is alot of rain now and a while back perfectly good and with some good change rooms

***NEWSFLASH***
Have been informed tonight (Tues) that Rian Nelson is no longer the senior coach at Barossa District Football Club. I believe he resigned Sunday, effective immediately.
The club has kept an extremely tight lid on this up to this point.
Nelson's replacement will come from within the club, and that replacement will see out the rest of the season. A high profile (ex AFL player) figure from outside this league has already been approached to handle the A grade duties next season, but I am unsure of the status of the approach.
More to follow soon.

Well if this is true it was a matter of time. Nelson showed that he is a great Ass Coach but can't do the top job. Anymore on who will take the job for the rest of the year? Not that it is important because Barossa are only seeing the season out. It is good to see that Barossa still want to be on top and look like they will get rid of anyone that will not let that happen. Some club's like to hold on and HOPE things will get better. I take my hat off to you Barossa.

You are on the money Roodog.
Nelson was told he would not be reappointed next season and so made the only decision he could and resigned, although I'm told that happened Monday.
The players were told tonight at training, and I've been asked not to name the bloke who will fill in. It will be obvious soon though.
The club has stitched up the new coach for 2010, and he is, indeed, a big name (retired a couple of years ago)with a bit of coaching experience under his belt now.
There are a couple of reasons for the decision, though it is difficult for me to put them in here. As some would know, Rian and I didn't exctly get on like a house on fire, so I'll leave that to other forum users. Suffice to say, I thought he was actually doing the right things by the club for its long term future.

As I reflected back on how I hesitated for a second before walking into the lion's cage carrying a leg of lamb, I thought to myself .......... I've got to do something about this lack of confidence.

Although i might like to take the piss out of sponge you have to feel for the big fella, he hasn't even been given a chance one year after he takes them to a GF and after 3 years of putting in huge hours under occonnor. Certainly dont blame him for walking out.

Barossa are kidding themselves if they think its nelson's fault they are shite this year, any club that loses half a side after playing a GF are going to struggle.

This is huge news... the beginning of the end for the bulldogs.

Having spent a couple of days in the Barossa this week and being able to see Williamstown, Tanunda, Nuri and Angaston Ovals, are any of these the best grounds in the comp? I have my own opinions on which set-ups I liked the best (without being inside changerooms or clubrooms), and I've been to South, Centrals and Freeling before, haven't seen Willaston or Kapunda.

Any chance Willaston will throw Nelson a lifeline and give him a gig next year in any coaching capacity ?

Surely he has something else to offer this caper , Ruck coach.

Plugger04 did you get the job?

Roger James , will be coaching next year P Hitter.

His contacts within the SANFL has secured the job bringing a handfull of players to the BDFC.

Nelson was always just going to be the filll in coach until someone like Roger was available. Could be some bad blood between former coach and club.
