Yeah but there's realistic thoughts and there's those that are logistically impossible or unlikely, some might not be aware of which is which so its nice to distinguish it for those folks. :)
Some might not be aware that both of the grounds mentioned would need a total reconfiguration and it might change their thoughts for a one off match there if they did.
IMHO most of the other wishes weren't pie in the sky and were real possibilities.

Just curious, what would this achieve?

Not necessarily anything, but considering its just a wish list, it doesn't really have to achieve anything.
Then again, it could be a real winner and draw in big crowds due mainly to the curiosity factor.
Plus i have heard for quite a while that Sturt may be considering playing games there in the future, I dont know how much truth there is to it, but if it is the case, surely it would be a good idea to test the waters abit first.

Kensington Oval is where the association that eventually formed the SANFL played a number of its games, the ground has a massive amount of SANFL History associated with it, it would be an ideal venue to use if the SANFL did consider having a heritage round as a result. No doubt the same firm that sets up Unley Oval each time could set Kensington up in the same manner. It would be a great opportunity for the SANFL to have some promotion through the media by doing something different - especially if the pre-game could be Wilunga vs Gawler in their old association Guernsey's of the time!

Excuse my ignorance but is Kensington now an oval because last time I was there it was a small rectangle?
The people that set up Unley don't have to make a new playing surface each game.

Not really sure as I haven't been there in years either, I thought it was home to a Cricket club?

Ahh cool, last time I was there was the last time Adelaide City played there on a Sunday in the winter league, around 1990 I think. :D
Used to spend many days there from the late 70s through to 1990, used to have great club rooms there.

That is an interesting idea, yet isn't Kensington Norwood's Zone? Checking the SANFL boundary map most of the word Kensington does seem to be on Norwood's side of the border, yet it does look like only just over. I still am not sure that I can see Norwood going for it though!

It seems its oval now after a quick search on google earth, but i think the images on there are from about 05/06, I dont think its changed between then and now, as im fairly sure only the odd cricket game has been played there since.

www.austadiums.com wrote:In the 1960’s, the oval was converted into Adelaide’s premier Athletics facility and was then known as the Olympic Sports Field. During this time, the ground also played host to Soccer with the Adelaide City SC calling it home until they moved to Hindmarsh Stadium following the 1989 season. Their record crowd was 13,132 for a game against Marconi on 4 July 1977.

When Adelaide’s new premier athletics venue opened in 1998, Santos Stadium, there was no longer any need for the athletics track at Kensington, therefore the track was ripped up soon after and the ground restored at a cricket venue.

Unley Council to bugger off an leave the club alone. Another 90 million Oz Lotto, someone to have the SFC in their will, win the thing then keel over.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

This has come as quite a surprise. Thank you so much for the recognition. I really didn't think
anyone would remember my playing days on this hallowed turf. Cheers everyone.
I'll be next to the players race at Norwood this week for all those wanting autographs.
8)

We are talking about the old 'Kensington Gardens Tigers' right ?
;)

My wish list is similar to Sojourner's thread opening post. Especially a WA v SA Premiers match.
