The Willaston backline when i was playing was tough to penetrate. I remember the likes of Tony Stansborough , James Whellum , Gary Watson and the above mentioned Jarred Puro. Was always a tough day at the office when having to deal with these guys.

I remember kicking 6 on Watson before half time , after the long break he just went bezerk and was sent off in a matter of minutes. Tony Stansborough wasnt the cleanest footballer i had played against either.

wasnt uncommon to be struck down by friendly fire with those loose cannons in your team

Back in Willastons good old days. Not so sure about James Whellum but the other three boys mentioned would belt you first then worry about where the ball is. Totally agree with you plugger, always knew that you played against willaston with these boys running around the defence.

Nice rumour but doubt it will become a trumour!! Diddles is nearing the latter stages of his career and i'm sure wants to finish off at panther land where the future looks bright, cant say the same for south!! Only thing south and ben have in common is there win/loss ratio over the past few years and think south isn't the club for ben to try and improve this stat!!

The Gawler Central V Willaston Derbys just arent what they used to be thats for sure. Playing with the likes of Bluey Mcintyre and Doggy Whenum , a all in brawl was only just around the corner. Those contests really were a war of attrition.
In fact even when we played South Gawler it seemed a hell alot more passionate and physical then as it is today. Its a sign of the times i guess.

This rounds results , put your house on it.

Plugger 04 sounds like u played in the days of the great Chalky Trimboli if u did even his fellow forwards struggled for a kick as he swollowed everything that come his way. Kicking 6 before half time on Wato u must have been good in your day.
Great to see blokes like Wato who have been in the game a long time Doning the whites done a great job in his couple a games I've seen.

Went down to the game between Freeling and Barossa at Pleurisy Park yesterday ( Williamstown oval) Freeling were beaten fair and square on the scoreboard with Barossa dominating in the first quarter. The rest of the game was pretty even.
Unfortunately, there was a pretty unsavoury onfield incident in the last quarter where Mensforth from Freeling was clocked with a late blow after taking a regulation mark. Im prepared to accept that this happens sometimes and dont think that the lad who hit him intended to inflict the damage he did. All I will say is that it displayed no courage to do what he did. As far as I know he was reported and a 50 m penalty was paid. A large brawl followed where the Freeling boys flew the flag for a mate, which you'd expect they would.
Now I'm not tarring everyone with the same brush, but what I cant accept is the tree swinger Barossa supporters on the verandah under their club (not Bay 13) who thought it was funny to hurl vitriolic abuse at a young guy who always plays the ball, while he lay unconscious on the ground before them. For those who thought it was a "lovetap" to "a weak dog" who they should "get off the ground if he's dead", the guy has 3 broken bones in his face, 2 in his sinuses and 1 on the roof of his mouth at the base of his skull, his season is over, and he wont be able to eat solid food for 4 weeks. Your comments were disgraceful and any club worth its salt wouldnt tolerate it from their so called supporters. It went on unabated for a good 5 minutes.
So to those people, which I realize isnt every one, while your sitting on your front porch, playing your banjo, ogling your cousin, hang your head in shame, you are an absolute disgrace !

Seen the mighty blue and whites dispose of the Lions by 25 points in a relatively high scoring encounter.
Craig Robinson was admitted to hospital with leather poisoning in another BOG performance, while Pechy slammed 7 majors through the big sticks.
Big game this week for the Panthers against Centrals, a win will see them cement the double chance, whilst a loss will confirm the order of the top four shaped.
Disappointed to see that the BL&G executive couldn’t manage to find a finals game at Panther Park, as it is in pristine condition following the recent rain.
Drifter, all the best to Mensforth in his recovery.

The panthers are starting that limp into finals with a less than convincing performance against cellar dwellers south gawler following a less than flattering game against freeling.. Basco might want to leave his comeback for another week because the panthers will get touched up by the gawler tigers again this week.

I totally agree with you Pinch Hitter, i dont give angaston any hope against our boys. The bye came at a very good time for us and all things going well on the track this week we will welcome back the likes of BT and Hilly. I cant see pech getting 7 kicks let alone 7 goals with Jake Asher wearing him like a glove. I cant see where angaston will get there goals from if he is held.
This will more than likely be a pre-view of the 1st semi-final with willastons loss yesterday putting them out of contention. I think we will see just how astute wacka Dawe is this weekend. I cant see him revealing his hand at this time of the year.

Yes it will be very interesting to see which one of Hadden or The Garden Gnome can play the better poker face in the lead up to the major round.
One thing you will learn if you haven't yet, Angaston have always enjoyed the underdog tag, conversely Centrals have always been captivated in their own self love.
Dawe does have quality players in Hill and Taylor to return, however coach Hadden has the added luxury of five key/spine position players in Dawes, Harvey, White, Bascombe and Reimannn.

Sorry Drifter was not at the game to give my account of the incident but did speak to some that where there and they where not as diplomatic as you. Basically they said it happened right in front of the P""s Week umpire who just gave 50m with no report. Very strange how a guy can end up eating through a straw and there would appear to be no malice in a late hit, we have all been led to believe that the head was protected. What has stirred everyone up more is the reaction of the Barossa supporters with their abuse of a player that was in serious trouble. From what I hear their club should be ashamed of those supporters. Maybe there is another side to this story as I have heard it from redleg diehards.

Sounds to me that Freeling will be seeking some form of apology if not some form of action from Barossa.

Obviously no bias at all in those comments from Drifter. I saw the same incident and I believe the contact was late, it was high and it was uneccessary and very unfortunate that the player was so badly injured. But it was not malicious at all and if you knew the Barossa player involved, he is nothing less than a very honest ball player, who is prepared to cop it on the chin and always gives 100% effort for his team. The behaviour of some of the BDFC supporters was disgraceful, I'll have to agree.. but name a club that doesn't have any idiotic supporters half tanked after an afternoon on the turps. If Freeling Football club is so disgusted with the behaviour of a few supporters over this, I'm sure there were plenty of Barossa supporters equally digusted with the malicious and disgraceful thuggery of 2 Freeling U17s players during the earlier match who ran around like unregistered dogs sniping Bulldog players behind the play. Blood rule count Barossa = 4, Freeling 0. Do the maths! See U17s page if you want to read more about that. There's some interesting comments and opinions posted on that issue as well.
If you don’t like my words, don’t listen. If you don’t like my appearance, don’t look. If you don’t like my actions, turn your head; It’s as simple as that.

i will think if you looked into that more there were 3 freeling players that were bleeding during the game, 2 came off during the match and 1 didnt know about it till it was noticed during the quarter time breake, so the score was 4-3 so dont think that the barossa 17s lads wernt completly playing clean, and yes i would agree with you that freelings 17s were dirty and not about that game and they will be talked to but look at that score must of worked getting the barossa lads fired up aslong as it wasnt life indagering like the incodent in the As.

Ruben,
firstly, I didnt get to see the 17's game, but whatever happened out there is off their own back. And i dont condone it. Anyone that knows the coach, knows that its not his style to do that sort of thing. Everyone likes to see a good hard contest, but there's no place for anything dirty or off the ball. And I dont think you can put the seriousness of the A grade incident in the same category of the earlier game. And he didnt even get reported !!!!!! I've got a question for you though ? were some of the out of line Barossa people during the A grade involved in the game earlier in the day. Footy is an emotional game, especially after a few sherbets, but there is a line that shouldnt be crossed.

BLG ump,
any comment on the non- Report for the Mensforth incident during the Barossa V Freeling game. I am not an umpire basher, but the umpire obviously saw it , because he gave a 50, but no report after 3 broken bones in your face ! what the !!!

I saw the incident that happened at the Freeling Barossa game. Yes it was late, Yes the crowd was over the top and if Freeling are asking for an Apology from the Barossa will the crowd at that game get an apology from the Freeling club and player (No5) who was sent off the ground and as he run of the ground tried to pull out what he thinks was his dick but to many laughs from the crowd who couldn’t see anything, will he be apologising to the BL&G and the club. I would say that at any level of footy this type of behaviour is not on and the BL&G should look in to it. You let one away with it and it will snow ball. We have a very good competition and it would be a shame to let it go downhill. I say to Freeling A’s No5 “Let people think you are a man than drop your short to remove all dought”.
If I see it I say it.
