Your comment about Chris is right. How come there are no hair nets, everyone tastes the food.... I would've thought the health department would've been jumping all over this show!

BTW, I love the show, not happy about it ending!!!

That was freakin' outrageous, that useless Julie served up 3 mediocre dishes (the judges even said the chicken lacked seasoning and the cake was 'just OK'), none of which were even finished (sorry, wasn't tonight's brief about making it LOOK good???) and beat Chris who met the brief with bells on but maybe taste-wise it didn't quite live up to his (much higher than Julie's) standard.

I think the judges gave away their hidden agenda tonight and the reason why Julie the fraud has got this far. Poh's cooking is too highbrow for your average Bruce and Raeleen and Chris' 'snout to tail' philosophy is just plain scary. Who's got the best chance of selling $hitload$ of cookbooks by being non-confronting, comforting and safe? Julie.

Did you hear her idea for her family themed cookbook?? The final chapter would be blank so your family can write its own chapter! That's just taking the piss.

I can't remember a stupid reality show making me feel so angry

don't watch it zap.

I love it and I was very surprised that Chris got the flick, however his food looked "brown" as Donna Hay said.

Obviously we don't know what the taste was, however I think Chris has a very clear vision about his restaurant and cook book, so hence my wife and I thought Julie would go because it wasn't plated according to their expectations.

BTW, it's Ju-leeeee not Juleee-a!

Agree with your comments about sweat though - her cookbook could claim "no added salt!"

Chris let himself down again when it counted. The time to show your stuff and he basically just roasts a bird and boils the buggery out of 2 types of meat. Then he boils some spinage and makes potato mash  When he had the 4 expert guest judges in the other week he did steaks that took him 5 minutes and roasted some bones  again ... He's hardly shown 5 star restaurant skill when he needed to.

Then he's told that presentation is important tonight but then waltzes in to the judges at the end as says "oh, I wasn't really thinking about presentation" as he serves up an arraw of meat dishes. Didn't even contemplate doing at least one dessert which was crazy IMO. He didn't meet the brief which was to produce dishes that would photograph well in a cook book.

FWIW, they liked Julie's chicken dish, they thought her lamb was excellent but not so excited by her cake. Chris on the other hand didn't cook his quail properly, served tough beef cheeks and did an average job with the pigs trotters.

IMO Julie is the better cook of the two. Chris is too obsessed about combining beer with everything and cooking 10 tonnes of meat. He's a bit of a one trick pony I'm afraid. He's a great cook but struggles to do anything other than roast or boil meat whenever he is put on the spot to create something himself.

The thing that I find funny is that Chris always looks unwell. Doesn't really make a good selling point for his boiled pig anus and braised cow teat dishes.

You're kidding aren't you? Julie not only made mashed potato (onto which she slapped some failed rolled chicken at the very last second), she made roast lamb and roast potato (failing to complete the gravy or other veg mind) and chocolate cake (failing again to complete any accompaniment whatsoever). *Yawn*

Chris was his own worst enemy in setting a very high standard and not meeting it all the time. Julie on the other hand set a very low standard from beginning and because the only way is up her achievements look good in a relative sense. But as far as being cuddly super mum home-cook extraordinaire, she couldn't even manage a lamb roast without fecking it up!

Did you see Chris' cake the other night? It was better than the proper chef's and no beer in sight! Julie again stuffed that up (forgetting a whole layer) but somehow got through again.

No question he can follow a recipe well and can cook. Julie got through because she actually was the only one to finish her cake.

Chris' problem comes when he has to make up his own dish. He doesn't think about presentation and he doesn't think about accomponiments on the plate. He is too focussed on his beloved meat. I just don't think he produces meals off the top of his head that anyone half decent home cook couldn't do themselves. Julie on the other hand shows techniques that are more advanced.

Remember that last night the judges liked NONE of his dishes (taste or presentation). They liked 2 of Julie's. Simple as that. The rules were it came down to the dishes last night and he didn't perform again.

Gotta admit - I've been sucked in by this show.

And judging by the ratings, so have a-lot of others!

Julie was also the only one who had a clear vision of her cookbook.

Reakon she could be onto a winner.

Probably appeal to the same people who buy Donna Hay and Margaret Fulton cookbooks.

Chris and Poh's pitches were half-ar$ed.

Corny as hell.

But people will love it.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got a dessert to make...
