To answer MM's question: Last time United missed the finals was 2003 from memory. They also missed in 2001. Interestingly both years Travis Opitz had a year off.
Either side of that United:
1993 2nd
1994 2nd
1995 1st
1996 2nd
1997 3rd
1998 2nd
1999 2nd
2000 2nd
2001 -
2002 1st
2003 -
2004 3rd
2005 4th
2006 4th
2007 2nd
2008 3rd
2009 ? .... may still play a part yet (currently 4th)!

Not too many clubs in any league could claim such a high level of consistency over a 15 year period.
But....
9 Grand Finals and 3 prelim finals for 2 flags....    I'd be keeping that list to myself KB!

Considering the geographical situation of United, that is a great effort.

Considering financial status of the club.....not so.

Seems Morgan is set to fold, leaving a three team Mid Murray comp.
MMFA officials are now looking for other clubs to join them but if that doesn't happen, the three remaining teams will disperse to other competitions.
BSR and Sedan/Cambrai may look to the Hills, while Robertstown would look your way again (going on discussions had last year).
It's all just talk at the moment but i'm sure it will all be decided by the end of the season.

Robertstown into the NEFL would seem more logical - paving the way for Blyth-Snowtown to join the APFL. Geographically speaking it makes more sense.

With the inclusion of Robby to the APFL, this may see the supercoach Bullbar face off against his old club in Hamley Bridge.

thought this was interesting and showed the evenness of the comp this year

form from last 5 matches (excluding games against hamley)
Mallala, Two Wells and Virginia 3 wins, 2 losses
United, Hummocks, Balak 2 wins, 3 losses

Agree with that. Will be a lot more competitive too. It won't happen though.

I think I may have changed my mind on Robertstown from end of last season where I'm not sure if I'd be happy to have them in our league. Going by reports they are struggling to fill 4 sides at the moment and have 3 less netball teams than our league has. We don't need another side in the comp with a low supporter base. Not to mention that they will not be remotely competitive. Hamley Bridge would give them a touch up.

A massive round coming up this week.
1V2, 3V4 & 5V6.
This week will go a very long way to shaping the finals placings. Loser of Balak, Hummocks game is probably out of contention I would think.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

at least they can improve. ie. playing closer to town may bring back some ex. players living in city.

I'd suggest they'd need more than half a team to be competitive.

Likewise - can't see it happening but seems more logical and keeps with the "Adelaide Plains" region as well.

Hamley played them in a trial at the start of the year and the Hamley A grade won by 10 goal or so in a 3 term game. Trial is a trial and you can't read much into it but Hamley did have a few out that day and played the 1st term without the likes of T.Smith, Schahinger, Burgess, Latimer on the field and we all know how Hamley are going this year. Wouldn't think Robertstown coming in would be good for the comp (although Hamley would be putting there hand up for their inclusion). A fair way to travel for a percentage boost!!!!
