What emotion should i of felt..

Postby Johno6 » Tue Jul 14, 2009 12:17 am

Here is another chapter in the life of Johno...

So sunday was my niece's birthday so being the nice uncle i am i go to town friday night (left the present buy a little late) and bought her a couple of presents.. some bath toys and a story book for the bath coz apparently she likes them, and i got my GF to pick her out a nice happy 2nd bday card, it was a Princess one the card said Happy 2nd birthday princess hope ypu have a special day etc, with a princess on the inside you colour in..

So its sunday i take the present and card to my sisters... feeling pretty happy bout what a nice job ive done, i give my niece her presents and card, wish her a happy bday then go speak to my brother in law... when i heard from the other room

"TWO!?!?!....... She's only one,. why the fell did u get her a 2nd birthday card?"

Does this make me a bad Uncle??

You should have felt happy that you at least remembered, thats the first thing

Then you should have grabbed them back, rewrapped them and used them again next year
I wish my remembering was as good as my forgetting

You're a bloke...you're expected to be stupid...if that's ALL you got wrong then your sister should probably be quite thankful...at least you remembered it's a girl

So technically this was her 2nd birthday"

At least you got an age appropriate present. Cards are stupid, really, who cares about a card. You look at them, say thank you, put them down, next day in the bin. Its not like you rocked up with a carton of Pale and a packet of Marlboro!

I have 4 nieces and 2 nephews.... i never remember their bdays n names, i always have to ask my GF
it was pretty awkward tho, all these happy 1st bday cards and then my big pink happy 2nd bday princess.

i didnt wrap the presents either.... just left them in the myer bag....so she cant play with that or she might suffocate.

Now there's a sin...You should have at least put it into a "Present" bag.

And Myer ? She's 1 (well you thought she was 2). When they're 1 and they're not yours BIG W or K-Mart is the go.

Next year get her a card that says "1" and substitute it for the "2" card you got her this year (the parents will keep the cards), and in about 30 years they might have forgotten....

You should've blamed it on the GF and broken into an argument in front of everyone, it would've taken the focus off of the mistake ;) .
Easy mistake mate, laugh it off and they should be grateful that you cared enough.

I think cards are an absolute waste of time!!
I remember when I was young, it was my mates bday, the going sort of rate if you give money was $20
one bloke rocked up and gave my friend $24, he said the extra $4 was cause he didnt buy a card
I thought that was gold!!

Shame, absolute shame. ;)

Never mind Johno, I couldn't even tell you my neice's birthdays. The male of this species is not programmed to remeber stuff like that, but as the add says, St.Georges' 11 flags in a row, Abletts 9 in a losing GF we will never forget.
