RD16 Bays v Port at the Bay - National Peter Carey Day

Postby am Bays » Sun Jul 12, 2009 8:19 pm

Hmm what chance Bays will be playing a side that includes Peter Burgoyne this week... mind you Josh Carr may get promoted as well.

On Saturday the club will honour Peter Carey's induction into the Australian Football Hall of Fame, after big Supe's other commitments prevented him from being appropriately acknowldeged before the previous Port game and the West and South home games.

All Bays fans get there to salute arguably our greatest ever clubman and one of our best ever players. Gee wouldn't it be great to have as many fans there as what there was when Supe broke the Australian record for league games played.

On form we should win but games aren't necessarily won on current form, they are won on 21 blokes having a fair dinkum crack, adhering to the game plan and following team rules. We take Port for granted and we will get beaten, Come on Bays shoulders to the wheel lets maintain our winning "form"!

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Could see some interesting selection dilemma's around Thursday night for the Bays.

Mules will return, Douglas could come in, as could possibly Carr, Salopek & Logan....

Will Port want Boak to have a run in the SANFL before his AFL return ?

Will be a few headaches at the table that's for sure.....

I'm going to mark the day by being fat, slow, unathletic and fall into people!
(And that's differnt to a normal day how? I hear a lot of people say!)

Seriously though, the flag favourites Glenelg should win by plenty.

That's exactly what I thought when we played the Bays when Carey was in the side but the bugger continually won the ruck and then bobbed up in play around the ground defying my assessment. A bit like one of our current day ruckmen that just happened to win the last Oatey medal!

I was talking about me not him! Carey was great! Continuously intelligently modified his game to maintain his longetivity in the game, from his superb effort in the 73 GF at CHF to his two flags in the 80s as a ruckman.

Buckets is great too although not in the same class, Ive always been a big fan. I modelled my game on these sort of ruckmen! :D

You may aswell play Burgoyne in the Bs, he's known to not give you anything in the As when dropped.

Ins for the Bays are Douglas, Meyer, Carr and Mules ... whilst that's 4 changes and possibly unsettling not a bad quartet to strengthen the side.

Still expect a tough game from the maggies but hopefully they will come out firing after the break.

Bays by 25 points.
