Well Doctrove missed a plumb LBW in the first innings but things even up in the end and he got it horribly wrong with Bopara there. Never at any stage did that look out.

Yep, I dont think anyone needed Hawkeye to have massive doubts about the height of it.

And unless I was seeing things, it may have been a missed no-ball as well.

It didn't look so bad side-on. Probably not out but side-on indicated that if it was going to miss it wasn't going to miss by much.

Speaking of which, they showed a replay of a Mitch no-ball earlier, and the batsman at the non-strikers end (I think Cook) was well out of his crease and just strolling forward as Mitch delivered ... Is it bad etiquette for the bowler to give him a little warning?

They allow the back up batsman to leave the crease prior to delivery these days, so there's not a lot the bowler can do about it. Not sure why they allow it, but they do.

It's a batsman's game ... although Bopara wouldn't agree at this moment :)

Believe they are still allow to Mankad them providing the bowler is not yet into his delivery stride? See it all the time these days, esp in one day cricket, but rarely moving as early as Cook was.

Also, think they allow batsmen to do it because of the video replays where it was felt batsmen were disadvatantaged by being given out by the bare margins, especially in ODI's.

next ball the hilf gets ravi for 1 off 3 balls LBW. just going over the top by hawkeye.

This umpire does struggle i think, billy doctrove is it? he was the one that missed the KP's lbw appeal in the first innings aswell.

I dont think it was very poor, just going over the top, so shoulda been not out, but it wasnt like ala Martyns decisions in the 05 ashes

It was a terrible decision. Clearly not out.

I couldn't believe that when I saw it. Great work England.

I'm critical of Ponting's captaincy at times, so I should mention when I think he gets it right. His declaration was absolutely spot on, knowing the weather was on the way.

On the flip side, Strauss wouldn't fill me full of confidence if I were an English cricket supporter. He's certainly not pro-active, and at times not even reactive. He tends to just allow the game to flow on while he stands at 1st slip playing with his nose.

And, although it's important to enjoy your cricket, the English players were having way too much fun out there for a team that was getting pounded. Some of the players made it look like a social gathering rather than a Test match. And that 7 minute drinks break was ridiculous. That team badly needs a Ray Illingworth or a Mike Brearly in charge.
