Umm you reckon the effort showed agaisnt the 2nd bottom team is enough to beat a team that currently sit 3rd and have won 4 times the games that Port have.....

Interesting....

Umm, yes I do.

I think if the Eagles play to the best of their ability they would beat Sturt playing to the best of their ability - if you know what I mean...

Predictions and talk doesn't mean much though...

Fair enough, just that I rate Sturt as a decent side at that they aren't sitting 3rd without good reason. Play on...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I think you need to take your eye patch off mate.

I am not suggesting for a minute the Eagles can't knock Sturt off tomorrow, in fact this game worries me slightly and the WWT side looks very strong on paper.

BUT, to suggest the Eagles best (a side who have drawn and lost to West Adelaide, been thumped at home by Norwood and struggled to get over the second to bottom Magpies even with Burton in your side) will be too good for Sturts' best (the third ranked side, with the best backline in the comp, who have brushed every club in the competition aside easily save for North & Glenelg) is just plain parochialism.

Should be a great contest but I would contend if Sturt play to their best, they will come out on top.

P.S. Might I add that in nearly two seasons of footy, Sturt have lost just twice at Unley Oval, once by nine points and the other by three to bogey sides Glenelg & North respectively.

Underestimate the Eagles at your peril ... a very capable and strong contender at full strength.

Not withstanding that, hypotheticals and history don't mean much when the players cross the white line. ;)

I still think the Eagles in this one, with 3rd spot on the line.

A victory to the blue baggers will just about close the door on the top 3 though.

Will hopefully enjoy a good contest on our ABC.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

Can't see any Blues fans underestimating them on here, I am certainly not.

I also don't think they are at full strength either. I am mighty glad Treeby and Powell are not in the side, along with McKenzie and Inkster they are the four who always gave/give Sturt the most curry. Broadbent and Stewart would be considered big losses too and by the looks Shirley will be kept on ice in the event of a late Crows pull out.

Burton, Passador, P. Fiacchi and co. are players that can cause real damage.

Quietly confident but expecting a real tussle.

I think thats part of the problem for Sturt, they play the tiny Unley Oval beautifully but can't handle the going on bigger ovals such as Elizabeth and Adelaide Oval

Think I heard Steven Rowe say on AA this morning that Pettigrew may come in to take Paul Stewart's spot for the Power...would be a bit stiff for stewie if that was the case but wonder of they would take him not Broady to Melbourne...or leave them both behind...guess we will find out tomorrow!
Trust the process.

The Eagles have quite a lot of talent in their Reserves this week ; Id say most have had some League footy this year and for various reasons have been dropped . Fuller , the match committee or both , dont seem to have too much patience these days . Personally , I totally agree , spare the rod and spoil the child .

Just heard on 5AA that Shaun McKernan is now in doubt for the Crows v Freo game saturday night after hurting a forearm at training this morning.

The club is awaiting the results of scans so if he does pull out* of the side, will be interesting out the 3 emergencies who gets the nod as none are tall players. Petrenko and Shirley were the 2 Eagles players named on the list with Shirley not named for the Eagles either.

Richard Douglas, the other named emergency, wasn't listed to play for Norwood's reserves this week (his aligned club Glenelg has the bye) so not sure who the Crows will go with there if in fact McKernan doesn't come up for the AFL game ?

Is there any radio coverage of this game? Or anyway to get just the sound of ABC's TV coverage over the net?

There is no radio broadcast of this one unfortunately tsb, 5RPH are covering West v Central tomorrow, Port v South Sunday and LifeFM are doing North v Norwood.

Not sure about the getting the ABC coverage on line, I seem to remember Wedgie posting something about this when he was overseas recently, perhaps send him a PM.

Huge game for both sides. WWT's recent record at House Brothers is excellent and last Season they were great up until the Final Quarter. I had the pleasure of standing next to Big Phil that game as he undoubtedly remembers.

Both sides have potent forward lines with Sturt's defence the best in the SANFL.

It'll be a great game with highlights all over the ground. Conditions sticky but at home Sturt by 3 goals.
Avid Sturt supporter and SANFL fanatic.

Eh? I think it's a shocker myself D4E. ;)

Thanks for the info'' Phil. I'll do that.
Perhaps I'll just have to hope that RPH, do a lot of updates, AND that their broadcast doesn't cut out due to overload.
Are there a lot of West and Central's fans overseas and interstate? It seems to be the large numbers that causes the net feed to cut out.

Yeah, but like I said it was unintentional, so that doesn't count...

Anyway, back on track, the following was posted on AFL.com in regards to McKernan and Shirley.

Katrina Gill on afl.com.au wrote:McKERNAN OUT FOR CROWS

1:29 PM Fri 10 July, 2009

ADELAIDE teenager Shaun McKernan will miss Saturday night’s clash with Fremantle at AAMI Stadium after breaking his left arm in the warm-up before Friday’s training session.

McKernan, 18, suffered the break in an innocuous clash of arms with another teammate.

Crows’ football operations manager John Reid said he expected McKernan to be sidelined for at least six weeks.

“Shaun will see the specialist this afternoon and they’ll decide whether to put a little plate in his arm or to let it go and that will determine how long he’ll be out, but I would think it will be a minimum of six weeks,” Reid told afl.com.au.

The injury comes as a significant blow for the Crows who are already without big man Brad Moran (knee).

Third-string ruckman Jon Griffin is also on the comeback trail after a calf complaint.

McKernan made a promising debut against Richmond last weekend and Reid said the timing of the injury was unfortunate.

“The injury to Moran means there’s now a bit of heat through that [ruck/forward] area and, from a personal perspective, Shaun was showing us some of what we’d like.”

McKernan will be replaced in the selected side by Robert Shirley, while first-round draft pick Phil Davis has been elevated to the emergency list.
