Port will need to play well to secure the points. ;)

Port play better & are a more discipline outfit without Jeremy Clayton.

To say Port play better without Jeremy Clayton in 2009 would be akin to saying Port circa 1989 would have been better off without Scott Hodges. I think both guys are knobs but i can at least acknowledge their influence onfield. Like the guy or not, Jeremy Clayton is a very very good footballer NM.

He is a very good footballer I never said he wasn't?
I've always been critical of his undiscipline antics on the field & its catching up with him fast.
Once again you bring your most hated player up to compare him with Clayton.

rr & nm, if a very good footballer is getting suspended almost frequently (generally speaking ie not just talking about clayton) is it worth having him ?

in claytons case would 'his antics' cause any disharmony in the team ? if the answer is yes he should go if the answer is no he should go & have more anger management sessions....perhaps winning the magarey medal was the worse thing to happen to him because since that time he has had flare up after flare up

Incorrect. I never brought up my most hated player. I mentioned Clayton and Hodges. I rate both guys very highly as footballers and have nothing against either. Despite growing up watching Hodges destroying my club time and time again i have a lot of respect for him as a footballer. He was a superstar and should've been given a better shot at the top level. Yes i have said he failed there (and he did) but he was never given the chances he deserved. Anyway Port do not play better without their best player that's for sure. Clayton is a gun no matter how undisciplined he may be. Port were the best for over 100 years by starting fights when the opposition started getting on top. I would've though Clayton fits in perfectly ;)

Fair call bayman. I guess that IMHO Clayton is a good enough player to be persisted with. He probably needs to pull his head in but to say the club is better off without their best player (and by a mile their best player) is a bit silly. Put it this way, if Pavlich started belting people do you think the Dockers would get rid of him or would they do whatever they could to help him stop doing that?

Both Clayton and Hodges are/were match winners, and great players of the club. I think both players are/were very confident and arrogant at times, which i am ok with, but one intimidated opposition physically with his attack at the ball and without belting blokes, and the other one costs the club by belting blokes and getting suspended. There is the difference.

Fair comment that. As a matter of interest was Hodges ever suspended, or even reported for that matter?

The Jack Cahill cup is in appreciation of Jack Cahills recent involvement with both clubs resulting in where both teams stand on the ladder and financially.
