Richard Pryor

Postby Magpiespower » Sun Dec 11, 2005 12:42 pm

One of the greatest comics has passed away, aged 65.

A rare talent and some would say a wasted talent.

An underrated dramatic actor. Check out his performances in Blue Collar, Bingo Long , and Lady Sings the Blues. Brilliant.

Unfortunately, he shunned similar roles for easy money in turkey's like The Toy, Superman III and Brewster's Millions, which were beneath him.

For anyone interested, his autobiography Pryor Convictions is a great read.

Safe to say, Richard Pryor paved the way for Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle...

yet another example of the 'sad' comedian, following in the footsteps of Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers and Rodney Dangerfield. RIP Richard Pryor.

Richard Pryor was as funny as they come. Some of the funniest movies i have seen with him in include ,Brewsters millions,Stir crazy,Hear no evil see no evil, just to name a few.A true brilliant comedian, and his stand up acts were as funny as any comedian going.

A real funny guy who will be sorely missed and always remembered in his great movies.

Remember LMAO in movies of his like See no evil, hear no evil, Blazing Saddles and Stir Crazy. Was very funny and a shame he didn't do more but he had actually been ill for a fair time before his death.
I gather you're not a fan of Chapelle and Murphy zipzap. Actually think Chapelle is quite clever.

I never saw his drama, but his comedy, as in "Stir Crazy", "Silver Streak","Brewser's Millions", as well as his stand up was classic stuff.
Thanks for the laughs Mr Pryor.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail
