Zac Hier will come in and do the job. Besides last game, he has generally done well on Chambers. It also depends on how much pressure our midfield puts on theirs. Last time it was non-existant.

I'd bring Zac back , but thinking left field maybe Salts on Chambers, Zac at centre half back and Kenny into the forward line?

Zac did not look in great form sunday in the seconds .

I would expect a better effort from the Eagles this week - we were insipid the last time we met the Blues. We will have a stronger side as compared to the last time we met as well - I still have a feeling though the Blues will be too strong - predicted margin 17 - 30.

Is Luke Powell amongst anyone's thoughts at the selection table this week - how has he been going in the reserves since resuming from injury?

I know he has played a couple of reserves games so far but I know he didn't play in the 2's against Port on Saturday...

I overheard him talking to former Eagles team mate Tom Wigley saying the groins are still are a bit tender so not sure when he'll be back in action.

Powell is listed as a test on this weeks injury list with a groin. Hopefully he can shake it off because he was out for a long time because of it and it would be a shame to see this season become a write-off for him.

Actually smart arse, having seen Woodville Oval last Sunday afternoon I can guarantee Unley Oval is in much better nick.

The centre wicket area is a little muddy, but the playing surface is as good as if not better than any of the suburban decks around the SANFL.

That's interesting considering Neil Cross, ABC TV Commentator, mentioned he checked out Unley on his way to Central v Norwood (I think he lives near the oval and wanted to check it's condition knowing ABC were doing the Sturt v Eagles game) and he said it was looking aweful and that if there was any rain during the week, it would be an absolute bog.

I've been to Unley half a dozen times this year and I would say that the general concensus would ALWAYS have Unley rated toward the latter end of best ground conditions in the league. For mine, I would say at present, the order would be Richmond, Norwood, Alberton, Noarlunga, Elizabeth, Prospect, Woodville, Unley, Glenelg

Did Crossy get out of his car and have a look or take a glance out the window as he drove down Frederick St? It's a little chopped up in places but that is to be expected given the amount of rain we have had of late.

Perhaps a little generous in my assessment of the surface but at the end of the day the ball bounces true and the players will find if they have the correct boots on it won't be a problem.

I get a little peeved when people bag the playing surface. I feel a lot of the criticism is based on how it was in 2005 and 2006 and that seems to have stuck. At that time the oval was very ordinary but a fair bit of work has gone into improving it. The lack of rain over the last two winter's helped also.

Unley Oval will be ready to go this Saturday and the best side will take the two points.

Dry weather all week will make Unley Oval a nice surface to play on.

Not a bad order. I think the surface at Noarlunga is probably the best IMO.

Yeah, it's going to be natural that the grounds with cricket pitches in the middle are going to be ranked toward the back end, no matter whos opinion it is. With footy being a winter sport, the pitches bog up and make it a sloshy, boggy middle area. I agree Noarlunga is a great deck to play on, always thought that and for mine, Richmond is the clear winner.

Ahhh, impact of the playing surface is overrated.

Good thing about the Bay last week was that the centre square was so muddy that they moved the centre circle so far east that those in the outer were only 20m from the centre bounces (or throw ups to be precise).

Anyway, I wouldn't get too precious about the state of your home ground. ;)

the afl did help them to get the ground up to scratch for the trial game that was played their last year. they helped to pour in the money for the water costs.

Norwood is one oval that has really improved for the better in recent years. Old Norwood followers could tell the story but i'm sure in the early 1980s there was a photo of Norwood Oval and it was a sea of mud. I think they used a helicopter to try and dry it out. Once again i might be wrong but i believe that when the council were responsible for maintenance it wasn't so good but now that Norwood are responsible the oval is much better nick.
