Interesting that Brett Favre is comtemplating joining hated Packer rival the Minnesota Vikings for the 2009 season but the Vikings have told him that he has to make his mind up by the end of the week.
Michael Vick has just been released from jail. He still has two months of house arrest to serve. Will a team sign him? Am of the opinion that his rep has been so damaged that no team will be willing to take the chance for a fear of a huge public outcry. He will be 29 when the season starts.

As much as I loved Favre, I think he's just too old to do it for a full season.

He was great in patches for the Jets, but they went 1-4 in their last 5 games to miss out on the playoffs.

Jets knew he was contemplating another comeback and they either knew they would have to trade him, or be in salary cap trouble. So they re-did his contract so they could release him without penalty and save a lot of money on this years cap.

Favre originally wanted to go to Minnesota anyway, and was basically forced to play at the Jets as the Packers wouldn't send him to anyone in their division.

He would be a good fit at the Vikings though, as their entire offence is built around their running game. Their current QB's are crap really. Add in an old future HOF QB and it gives them another offensive threat.

Favre has another 2-3 weeks to know whether his bicep surgery was sucessful enough so he can play NFL football again. Will be interesting come mid July for sure.

Very sad to hear of the death of recently retired former Pro Bowl Quarterback Steve McNair.

Do agree somewhat with the statement that he finally helped shatter the 'black QB' myth and helped open the doors for Culpepper, McNabb, Young and co.

Was considered by many 'experts' at time of his no.3 status in 1995 draft that the Houston Oilers were taking a big gamble as he'd only played Div 1AA college football but he soon proved he was worthy of the pick.
