When a favoured team maybe dosent play up to the perceived standard that their supporters expect, then it is always a scrappy game, or we wern't on song today, or we all had the flu, or they brought us down to their level or some other lamed brained excuse.

South got the same thing from the Dog barrackers last week, there always is some excuse as to why their team only just managed to get over the line.

A few of you have, but its about time that all the 'other' experts in football land started to give the opposition some credit for the way they stopped your team from handing them out a flogging, reguardless of who the other team is.

South supporters are far and few between, and we have never gone into hiding when times get tough, like Sturt, Nwd, Port and Centrals followers do, we are there for the good (not that often) times and the bad.

i do agree with your last sentence i did see about 10 south fans today, but jokes aside you have to expect those comments when you are bottom of the ladder. have a look at some of your fellow supporters posts, you guys were glad to get close, so what does that tell you?

Glenelg looked rusty, due to pressure by South, and the fact they didn't train Monday and only half trained Wednesday.

Happy with the win considering the build up to the week.

Well done for the Pie Floaters on Snouts Hill too :@)

Crap!! I was not happy we got close. We should have won the bloody game!!! There was 3 points in it at the 5 minute mark of the last 1/4.

It was plain to see Glenelg went in the game with a poor mentality and lack of respect for their opposition.

Hell, with the way some of their supporters are talking themselves up you would think you might as well give them the premiership now!!!

Pretty poor excuse using lack of training this week etc....etc... ra, ra, ra

Don't their supporters remember where they were a couple of years ago????
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

*chuckle*

Love it how Bays fans talking about illness and a side not playing at 100% can be taken as "talking up premierships"

FWIW I don't think we adequately respected South today in the way we played - taking on tacklers insted of the first give - so read into that what you will.

Given the flatness of our boys glad we could lift when it counted to get the points - Fisher, Kirkby and Murphy we're very good in teh last 15 mns.

You're right, you should've won today any other side probably would have given our preparation, so this is one Bays fans happy with the 2 points and happy that we get a week off to get our Boys right for a tough four week stretch - Port, Dogs, Norwood and then North on their dunghill.

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

A couple of years ago, yeah we were on the way up. Before that we were crap.

And as for the training, if a team doesn't train, and upward of 18 blokes had the flu, I think fitness and game plan would be under pressure.

And the fact is South didn't lead at any stage from about halfway through the first quarter, so far yet so close....

=D> It happens every week. Use the preview thread to predict an easy 10 goal win, then use the review thread to throw in excuses why it didn't happen.

Still that's what happens when you're sitting last, respect will only come with a few wins .

South had all the momentum early in the final quater and when Shmidt took a solid mark and then missed a goal a 10 year old would have kicked I knew we were in for another loss!
We really need to finish off the year with at least another couple of wins!
It took the bays until the last 10 minutes of the game to break us down, and I Hope we can take this into the game against the magpies at Alberton.
Near enough is still not good enough!!
