Not one for the highlights reel today, but well played South ... ran harder and went in harder for most of the day and have now pushed last year's grand finalists in the last 2 weeks.

In the end the final score was flattering to the Bays with a few very late goals but they did come away with the 2 point nevertheless.

Much work to do to improve on that performance with a bye then Port at the Bay (after playing them there only 4 weeks ago ).

Very entertaining game with plenty of good, tough football from both teams. Glenelg's last 15 minutes really sealed it, after South were very gallant throughout. A couple of discipline lapses from South were costly (Myke Cook had a massive lapse in the 2nd term that overturned a South 25m penalty that would have taken them to 40m from goal, and it resulted in a number of 25's to Glenelg that took them to their goal line. It overshadowed a very dominant game from Cook who was one of the best afield for both teams).

Grima presented hard for the Bays and was a real focal point, Kirkby moved well also. They got plenty from the on-ball division, with Fisher and Murphy crucial at the stoppages. Cockshell and Cranston had a very intriguing battle in ruck, with Cockshell playing arguably his best game for the club with a number of pack marks around the ground. Moving Warren into midfield in the second term seemed to upset Glenelg for a time, and opened up scoring chances for South outside of him.

Some really entertaining passages of play for both teams, and to say that Glenelg played poorly - which they didn't - would be selling South very short on a brave effort that fell short. The final margin doesn't really reflect their competitiveness for all but the last 15 minutes.

It looks as though you drew the short straw there CK as the Eagles v Port game was an SANFL classic. Hard dour game all day possibly the best game of SANFL all season.

lets get one thing right, it wasnt entertaining, it was a good old fashioned scrap, easy to say that south dragged glenelg down to their level, maybe maybe not, we got out of it with 10 minutes of footy, maybe not even that much, cranston was outstanding for us - showing the midfielders how it should be done but then again maybe cos of the scragging he took the initiative, WELL DONE BIG TREV!! flue was mentioned as a problem for us pre match but then again it was south, they always give us trouble, have since i can remember - (40 years) now to freshen up and flog those pies again

I swore I wouldn't post on the SANFL forums again until South Adelaide were no longer a joke.........so I'm back.
Great effort against quality opposition two weeks running well done boys....losing with class shouldn't be enough though.....now I wont post again untill we win...........see u soon.....hopefully.

Can't really add to that. South earned my admiration, they put in 100% for the whole game. Glenelg was not a four-goal better side today.

Highlight for me was the pie floaters on offer on Snout's Hill

south definately on the improve & being a young list will still have their ups & downs, for us i was happy to end up with a win considering that during the week half the team had the 'flu as mentioned at the club presentations tonight, i thought kirkby was outstanding for us, for south i thought cook early & i like the way rolfe plays

The Bays didn't exactly play well either. Not that I want to take anything away from South, they played with perfect spirit, if not finesse. You'd never know it was top v bottom today.

The fact that the panthers were competitive again is pleasing to a point, but for the fifth week in a row, the game was there to be won we didn't step & grab it. It could be put down to inexperienced players & coaching staff, some may say it is our culture. The next few weeks will shape what becomes of the SAFC - if we win a couple games the players will start to believe it is possible & realise winning is a much better feeling than losing or just being competitve. If we keep falling short like the last few weeks the younger players may feel it will never happen & lose interest very quickly.

Best South have played all year. Really kept the pressure on the Bays for most of the game and the Bays buckled a bit. Think the Bays were not switched on and had that "It's only the bottom side" mentality.

What cost us really was 10 to 15 minutes of Football in the last 1/4. Did not keep up with the man on man work that stopped the Bays from getting a free flow game going.

Thought Cook, Cockshell, Torney were best for us.

Still, a loss is not good enough.

Another 'brave' effort Whilst it is a relief that the string of embarrassing, gutless 15 goal beltings which has unfortunately been a common occurance over the past 5 years seem to be a thing of the past, losing the tight ones can be a hard habit to get out of.

Bloody amazing

When a favoured team maybe dosent play up to the perceived standard that their supporters expect, then it is always a scrappy game, or we wern't on song today, or we all had the flu, or they brought us down to their level or some other lamed brained excuse.

South got the same thing from the Dog barrackers last week, there always is some excuse as to why their team only just managed to get over the line.

A few of you have, but its about time that all the 'other' experts in football land started to give the opposition some credit for the way they stopped your team from handing them out a flogging, reguardless of who the other team is.

South supporters are far and few between, and we have never gone into hiding when times get tough, like Sturt, Nwd, Port and Centrals followers do, we are there for the good (not that often) times and the bad.
