Thanks for the scores m80's. Sounds like a pretty entertaining game, good scoring, and has virtually sown us up a final spot with the other results on the weekend.

I didn't get there until 10 minutes into the first quarter, but Port already had 4 goals on the board to the Eagles 1. Port were dominating play and if not for inaccurate kicking for goal (which plagued them throughout the match) would have been up by more than the 4 goals they were leading by at quarter time.

There was no wind advantage to either end and with an overcast cloudy day, the conditions for footy were perfect - besides the muddy cricket pitch area. The Eagles came out after quarter time and quickly drew level with Port. From about half way through the 2nd quarter to 3 quarter time it was an arm wrestle, but I always had the feeling the Eagles were more dangerous. Despite the excellent efforts of Lokan on Passador, the Eagles half forward line were always providing an avenue with Hill working hard and Burton very dangerous and skillful.

The last quarter saw the Eagles gain the early ascendancy, before Port had a patch where they could have really put pressure on the Eagles, but again, poor kicking for goal cost them.

I thought Burton was best for the Eagles. He set up many goals and was so clever and dangerous off his half forward flank. Would not surprise me if he slotted straight back into the Crows next weekend. Broadbent was fantastic on ball and off half back and should not be playing at SANFL level at the moment. Allmond was also excellent all day. It was a great team effort and some gutsy play in particular by McGregor going back into a pack and being concussed on the 3 quarter time siren.

A number of first gamers for this season for the Eagles - Burton, Goldsworthy and Passador. Plenty of discussion still at the selection table to try and work out the best set up as we approach the business end of the year.

Brett "Birdman" Burton kicked 5 goals & 20 + posessions. Didn't look liked he had missed 11 months of footy.

Disappointed to lose, pleased with the overall intensity shown by the Magpies, and despite our poor kicking, it was Burton who was the difference in the end.

We'll win more than we lose from here, so onwards and upwards.

Agreed, and the majority of those said possessions were contested. Well played birdman, two more matches to qualify

Perhaps the four goal headstart to the moronic magpie maggots aint enough.

Jokan is nothing but a stepladder to passadors mark of the year contender.

Well done Eags, now for $kurt next week @ the playground.

Matthew Goldsworthy is a shoe in to get drafted. 17 year old year kid can play.

Birdman sensational game back after a year off. Contested possession after contested possession.

ps what is it with the port power/collingwood magpie peanuts wearing port power colours to a sanfl match? dumb f*cks have no clue

You come to expect some of that when they post such a rather large, & confusing "i"word. Perhaps this was from a dotard?. Simple, thick & inane could be some other apt descriptions.

G'day Pesudo & thanks, simple & short tonight. Looking forward to a meeting in the qualifying against Mickan's well coached mob. That could be selling short the bays chances of finishing top though

Best for port was the ranga, thurgood. Quick minded to play on in the last quarter when the game was in the balance. The uncontested possession and no pressure shot from 15 metres out, dead in front was harrowing, At least the eagle fans were able to eulogize. Gun.

Arrived at FORTRESS WOODVILLE(hello snappy Tom ;) )in time to watch half of the under 18's game with a win to Port Adelaide .Then watched the entire reserves game once again a win to Port Adelaide .Had a few chats with some of my Eagles friends who read and post on here ;) .Got me hoping that wasn't an omen for the remainder of the day .
First quarter PAM's exploded from the blocks and my beloved eagles appeared to be away on School holidays .Not sure what happened after quarter time but the mighty eagles turned the game around .after that was an arm wrestle of a game .
Passador took Mark of the year and also earned some frequent flyer points .Pretty sure in his time at oval ave he hasn't got that high .
Burton came alive in this quarter and almost knocked himself out .
Goldsworthy how nice to have a crumbing forward playing .
And I have renamed my section of the Barry Jarman Stand in honour of Jay Cheep .For a little guy there certainly is a lot of guts fight determination and goal scoring in that small frame.
What can one say about the PAMS they had the eagles on toast part way into that first quarter .the eagles were like sitting ducks and they couldn't kick straight. They had 6 goals 6 on the board and 2 or more out on the full .Another win slipped through Tims fingers .Perhaps tim will not be at alberton next year.

And before I sign off it was nice to meet the new CEO what a nice Bloke.

Cheers From Fortress Woodville

Cya at Unley next week

PS
How many stitches did Luke Jarrad have after that nasty incident with that wharfie scumbag Clayton ?

a great game of sanfl footy played today......

credit to both sides.....tough at it all day....one on one contests....

agree Burton was oustanding.....Broadent very good and I thought Hill played his best game for us so far......great effort all round by the boys....

cicca played the man for most of the first quarter but after he focased on getting the ball he was great......

if Ginever wants to keep coaching at this level then he might just tell his runner what he wants his own players to do rather than wasting time on telling the runner to take cheap shots at the Eagle boys......worry about what your own blokes aren't doing!

flash was punched in the face and looked like to have a broken nose.....

so the Port boys came to Woodville to rough our lads up.....well they got what for in return.....great game!
