This article from the latest issue of The Spectator does not take political sides but describes how people become extremists very well. It appears the antidote may be to seek to spend time with people who disagree with your entrenched views...

I do hang around with people who dont agree with me they are called "co workers" majority are women (so I'm always wrong) and the majority of them are "brown Noses" so I'm always wrong .
Even when I don't talk in the lunch room at work I'm told I'm wrong !!!!

A common problem with dominantly female workplaces Micky. What you need to do is buddy up with the pack leader and get her on side, if she is not too ugly... ;)
