How good was it to watch the lads play.
Gives us a taste for next week and on punter dont worry about him when it is his turn to stand up he will deliver.

BUT on a sour note watching Watson in the rooms playing with bat and ball I for one am sick of seeing this bloke get full paid holidays for jack! Send him home!!!

How did Bresnan get three wickets? He looked fairly harmless to me. For me Hughes' dismissal is a real worry. He'll have a massive target on his chest when he walks out to bat all summer. Very poor out for Hughesy.

Pontings shot to get out was a SHOCKER.

I hold grave fears for the Aussies batting this series and you'd have to be a Brave man to back the Auusies at odds on to win the Ashes.

We'll be right. Hussey hitting the ball off the square is a MASSIVE plus. He hasn't done it for a couple of years now. If you think they are rusty you are right...that's why it is a TOUR GAME. Don't stress Jimmy.

I watched the Hussey/Katich partnership and was chuffed to see them both scoring so many runs from cut shots. Means they're in good form.

Must have been unlucky, Harmison doesn't get it on the pitch that often.

Never fear dedja, the Kat was caught on the fence at fine leg by Onions, probably wishing now that he had got under it a bit more and brought up his ton!

Interesting to see that England are also playing a warm-up match of their own, which I can only assume means that Onions and Bell aren't first choice selections at the minute? From what I saw last night, Onions was reasonably impressive, doing just enough with the ball to trouble Hussey who was well set at the time. Very impressed by both Mr Cricket and the Kat, typical champion leftys the both of them! ;) Hussey's cover driving was back to its imperious best, and Katich was on fire before he got out. They both seemed to have adjusted to Test cricket tempo very well, albeit assisted by some very attacking fields set by Ding Dong Bell.

Harmison will clean up the tail early. Pointing will make sure of it. Harmison taking 5 wickets = selection for the first test...........advantage Australia. :D

If the Aussies selectors had any brains the would have selected Symonds, given him some extra dollars and got him to take Freddie out on the town. Player of the series material.

Had a very early start and got thrown in the deep end. His Test average is more reflective of his ability but even then he was thrown in pretty young. Regardless of what people think about him as a person as a cricketer he is a superstar. Yes he failed tonight but he is one of the best batsmen in the world regardless.

Reading through some e-mails sent to the commentators about who should be in the Australian team; this was one team submitted (with one name I can't remember):

Chris Gayle
Graeme Smith
Sachin Tendulkar
Andrew Symonds
Shivnarine Chanderpaul
MS Dhoni
Mark Boucher
Dwayne Bravo
Fidel Edwards
Ishant Sharma

12th man: Andrew Flintoff

No use if he's not taking any wickets though.

Johnson has been going at 5.5 an over and Hauritz has only bowled 3 overs so not much else to choose from really is there.

The stupid commentator just then on Hughes: "I don't like to judge a man on one innings but I didn't see anything that would frighten me".

  The Hughes bagging has started early this tour.

And yes, not backtracking, imo they WILL be made to look stupid. The poms might even be deluded enough to name Harmi which would enhance the comedy value even more.
