In trots there are plenty of people that take tris for multiple units and with small pools it cant easily kill you divvie
Did you have the 5 in your tri? The first 4 in NSW/VIC paid over $2k
Anyway at the end of the day I presume you made a profit? Cant complain

Well tonight i was nearly sick with a result I got and kept saying i was never going to gamble again!
the result in question was a div on BT race 2 tonight, i rovered the 2 and 3 and had 7 and two other numbers to come with them for 55%, not all was bad when they crossed the line 2 ($4 to win) 3 ($60+) and 7 ($25+)
But when browny and myself looked at how much the trifecta payed i was standing there in disbelief!
I dare say i am one of the more unlucky punters out there, any other race and that div pays 5x as much if not more.
things that could have effected the div,
*both favourites missed
*9 horse field
*3rd fav won.
2 good things there but surely the div wasnt justified!
I'm a very shattered man right now and will sob about this for weeks. . .

Extremely POOR dividend imo and i was surprised to see it pay poor on the other totes as well.
I thought a divi of $500 + would have been more appropriate BUT the tri only pays according to the no. of winning units on the combination so for some reason most punters didn't find it that hard to get.
I see former STAR S.A. driver Simon 'Simmo' Jones was unplaced on the fave in this race which was paying $1.00 money back for the place.![]()
(Worst feeling in the world as a punter backing a horse or dog for a place and seeing it come into money back and then watching your selection go around with the best u can do is get your money back, ie. You can only LOSE and CAN'T win).
one possible explanation for the LOW dividend on the trifecta is that in the trots if the Pole horse is short priced which in this case it was No. 2 and also tipped to win, trot punters will take it to WIN and master the horse drawn directly behind it to run 2nd or 3rd (in this case No. 7) knowing that it will get the run of the race if the pole horse leads. Generally when this scenario happens the trifecta dividends will seem to pay less than normal going by the prices of the placegetters.
Despite this , i stilll think it was a shocking Dividend.
Stilll cant see u giving up punting after backing a winner tho even tho u got ripped off.
PS. There are times when we do get Huge dividends that pay well and truly overs so i guess it's a case of taking the good with the bad.

Im with Groover
This Trifecta was a very very very poor return
$4180 in tri pool
about $3350 after commissions taken out
so about just under 20 units on the winning combo
On the interstate totes no one got the any 2 on the combo of 3-7
I used to make plenty of $$$$ from Trifectas in the 80s
In the last 20 years I have lost too much on them
I have all but stopped taking them
There must be some clever trifecta players out there killing the divis
TRIFECTAS
Just lob in TABS on any given day
You will hear the disgruntled punters bickering with other punters
The most heated whinges always seemingly are about the Trifectas
They show thier ticket to the others
"" I got The winner but."
" Look at the horse that ran 4th if only it ..."
" What if the 2nd horse won I had it at bigger odds than the winner."
And when they do get one they end up in Groovers situation
" That has paid s***t, how could it pay so little..."
Groover my advice
Give up taking Trifectas seriously
Take sMALl flexis
Trifectas cost you even more in the long run, as you have to spend $$$ on antidepressants
In the last financial year I lost only on 3 types of betting
Trifectas
P4s
Laying horses to win on Betfair
I won about $20k on them in the 80s
BUT
Have given it all back and a bit more since on Tris
GROOVER
Inappropriately I might add theres a couple of famous Gambling maxims
MT79..."" Everytime you win you dont lose."
CENTREMAN " You never go broke backing winners."

Your a bit stiff Groover S.Jones was on the favourite and said he couldnt win so he got the tri for $4 s worth that might of effected the dividend.

Surely drivers cant punt on them, can they?
