The Roosters have been ultra-competitive against the top teams in the early part of the season. but in the past two weeks have been absolutely thumped by Uri's and Handorf. We know they weren't games they were expected to win, but to lose so badly is a surprise.

Whats the problem ? Is it injuries which inturn impacts on depth ? when are the absent players due back ?

It looks as though the finals may be out of reach.

Yep, pretty much how you put it. We've had quite a few injuries in the last month and our depth just hasn't been able to cover them.
Dempsey, Roockley, Moerman, Matoga, Farrell, Luke Highfold and Friend all missed the Uri game and while we had the last two back for Hahndorf, Longman and Hanton were out.

With the juniors we have coming through plus some good recruiting again, hopefully we can build on our depth and be better again for 2010.

Although finals isn't probable, we're still looking forward to the rest of the year and you never know, if things go our way and we can pinch one against Onkas, we could sneak in!! ;)

Matoga is no longer considered an out, he's been missing for weeks. Birdwood let Harndorf kick 13 goals in the 2nd quarter and that's what they lost by. Lost their Captain and Krieg in 2nd half. Already talent depleted and there would have been at least 6 players playing that day, that were simply not up to the standard of A grade footy. Harndorf and Uri I'd say will playoff in the G.F. or Blackwood and they're quality sides and have the depth.

Someone posted birdwood still had 18 blokes on the field.... Yeah, but some of them are poo! and Harndorf were at full strength. I'm hoping the roosters will pick up this week

Not quite full strength Hahndorf only 3 missing Nicholas and Howman the main absentees

To be honest the only one who is going to beat Hahndorf is themselves. They have the most talented list and, on paper, should win the flag but Im not sure they are as mentally tough as some other teams. Hahndorf look a million bucks when things are going their way but I think they stumble a little bit when things do no go their way, this seemed particulary the case last year, Im not 100% sure they have addressed this yet.

Uraidla's list pretty powerful and things going smoothly for them, and what about Blackwood now with Hollands? Hahndorf list good too but depth still not strong. I would have thought their second half of last season and finals performances were pretty good and tough. Have Mt Lofty slipped is more the question, the other 3 are all even.

I wouldn't have thought that this would be a problem for Hahndorf. When games get tough such as in finals, the better players step up. hahndorf have the experienced players that will step up when it counts.
It will all come down to the bottom 5 players as is mostly the case in the Hills, this is the reason why Lofty have been so successful. A bit comes down to depth and injuries during finals, as that dictates a sides bottom 5. The only qustion with hahndorf is, if there better known players dont perform, then will the younger not so senior players step up??
GET UP!!!!!

Obviously Paul Lowe was a big loss for us and I think would have had a wonderful year with us. Would have given him a great oppurtunity to get some great outside run with some of the new lads getting the in-and-unders out for him.

IBs list may be long but I don't regret any one of those clearances. If they don't want to play here, then I don't want them playing alongside me. Can't accept clubs holding back clearances for anything other than financial or contrctual obligations. Required player is garbage.

i noticed michael pope on that list, left for lofty after winning a 17's premiership last yr then returned to ironbank without playing a game. what was he reason for leaving in the first place? do you want him playing alongside you??

Young Popey has played since he returned, including A Grade. I think he wanted seniors at IB but didn't think he'd play. A chat with the Gaz Campbell and he was straight back. Certainly unusual circumstances.

don't know where you got you're info on the Lobethal clearances. Steve Sziller has played one game for the club and that was a one off this year, Tim Jenkin although cleared this year has never palyed a senior game for Loby, Gary Schultz was cleared at least 18 months ago and only played about 2 games in 2007, Ben Hanna came from Gum this year, played one game and left again, (apparently money issues). As for Tim Polkinghorne, Brodie Poole and Matthew Figas, none of them have ever played a senior game at Loby and I can't say I know every player by name at the club but I have never heard of any of these guys. Don't know how accurate the info on the other clubs is.
