MC which grade did you play on Saturday? Can you give us a run down on both games as I was at golf and would like to know where Balak was able to get on top of the Tigers.

Didn't play on Saturday Hazbeen, but was obviously disappointed in all 4 grades losing on the weekend. Probably the only positive for the day was that the weather was good.

B's was a close game until half time and then I think Balak kicked 6 goals in the last half to our one. Maybe put it down to fitness. Interesting that Nathan Yates was in the best players for the A's last week and played B's this week and absolutely dominated. I noticed he wasn't named in the best players and people I've spoken to from both sides agreed he would have got the 3 votes. Not sure if there is anything in that or not.

In the main game Balak got off to a good start and kept it going. With Danglers and MJ out we were short a tall defender and tall forward and were caught out with a couple of mis-matches at both ends that favoured Balak. Young John Brice started well kicking 2 or 3 goals in the first quarter coming out the goal square. He is one to watch, if he sneaks under your guard he will hurt you. It was a good battle between Whisky and big Will, but Hayden probably was a bit more dominant around the ground, with Will probalby winning more tap outs. Balak were very good at shutting out our midfield and caused and won plenty of stoppages and was probably the main difference in the game. That and they played infront all day which helped them win the lopsided free kick count.

With Mallala smashing Hummocks we have obviously missed a prime opportunity to get into the four. Might even slip to sixth next week as we have a bye and Balak play Hamley and should gain a bit of percentage. Full credit to Balaklava on the weekend but it was a game we should have won and how much it will cost us, only time will tell. Hopefully won't cost a finals berth but it has made things difficult.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

How did the Toga night go at the MFC Swamp? Surely a bit of Roman excess and debauchery had by all???

Toga night was a hit.... well for those who were there!! A bit light on numbers but a few sore heads yesterday I'm sure!

As for the tipping, well I think the magpies caught the mighty Eagles on a bad day and with a few big outs. Yes it was a convincing win, but I think most of the Mallala lads have a reasonable memory, so it was too much to get excited about considering we're in June!!

Thanks for the great run down MC, sorry I forgot about your injury, how is it coming along? Balaklava are nearly at full strength I believe and could of been higher on the ladder already if not letting a couple of games slip earlier in the year by not running the 4 quarters out.

So does that mean pre-season starts in October for next season? I remember watching them train in early November for this year. They're definately becoming a real force, good for comp.

Guys, just a heads up about a promotion Telstra have got going at the moment called True Supporters. From the 6th June until the 30th September, any $30 or above 2 year Next G mobile phone contract or BigPond Broadband (ADSL or Wireless) connection sold at participating dealers will qualify for a $25 contribution from Telstra to the country football club of your choice. There's over $200,000 available, so if you or anyone at your club needs to upgrade their phone, or need to get broadband internet tell them about this promotion and $25 will go to your club. For all the details (and participating dealers) go to http://truesupporters.com.au/
You heard it first... ;)

Great pickup Jack. Mrs Creature is in need of a new phone so I will talk her into purchasing a Telstra Next G phone. Even better I notice one of the participating dealerships is Retravision in Balaklava, might send her for a drive to go in there to ensure our club gets $25 for it. I'm assuming the staff in there will all know about this and will be happy to help her make a decision on her purchase Jack?

Very big round in the context of the season this week:
Mallala win may cement Top spot
Virginia loss throws them back to the pack

Two wells Victoria gives them breathing space in 2nd
Hummocks victory keeps them a little clear of balak and united

Balaklava to win and keep marching in their current good form.

A slightly unreliable source mentioned to me on saturday night about seeing a pretty graphic injury on saturday to a Hamley player.

I assume she meant during the A Grade?

Can anyone confirm? Ben C, FGH?

I take it either they or yourself were pretty drunk then :D

Doesn't sound good. Never nice to see bad injuries. We had a netballer on the weekend snap her achilles. That wasn't a pretty sight I can assure you.

Natt was tackling a Two Wells player and Burgess came in from the other side and Natts momentum turn himself and the player around and Burgess collected Natt in the head with his side. I think he broke his Jaw out of the collision. It was a pretty ugly sight. Irony of it was both these two collided the week before against United with Burgess hitting the deck but only receiving a cut to his chin.

Not good to hear, it happens to the best of them, all the best in Natty's recovery. I’m sure he will be back fossicking for dinosaur bones very shortly.

There was a real nasty one in the senior colts at Mallala last week too, one of the young Nicholls lads aparently snapped both of his arms just above the wrist. I didnt see it happen, but you'd never wish that upon someone, poor little bugger, hopefully he didnt require any nasty surgery. Any news on his condition Jack or Ace?
