Best "Series" of films

Postby JK » Tue Jun 30, 2009 12:12 pm

Having just read through the comments on the Transformers new movie, it seems another case of "The second movie is never as good as the original".

So (apologies if this has been done before), can anyone suggest any series of films (ie, original, Sequel, Prequel, Trilogy etc) where all movies were quality?

Personally I was a fan of the first 2 Terminator movies but thought the 3rd one blew, and enjoyed all the early Rocky movies but they just looked to cash in on the later ones.

Only franchise I can think of is the original Star Wars trilogy.

Refuse to include the prequels in this series.

George Lucas can get stuffed!

Alien Quadrilogy \m/

This does not include the Alien vs Predator spin-offs which are lame at best.

The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Although this was really one large movie busted into 3 chunks.

Mad Max. The second exceeded the first, but the third was worse, though still watchable.

Godfather is just brilliant.
The much maligned third part isn't as bad as people say either.

I'm a big wrap for all three jason bourne movies with Matt Damon.

Three out of four Indiana Jones movies were great, but the fourth was just terrible

Yeah sorry mate I'd have to ... I thought 3 was a stinker, unfortunately, because I enjoyed the others.

Probably not a series as such, but I was always a big fan of "Clerks", "Mallrats" and "Chasing Amy" (and could throw Dogma in there too)

Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy are a series - it's called The Jersey Chronicles.
However, I'd have Dogma before Chasing Amy.
I don't think I've seen Chasing Amy since it was first released.
I watch Clerks and Mallrats quite regularly and Dogma very occasionally.
But please don't mention Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back, or Clerks II.
