I vaguely remember seeing a movie years and years ago based on the whole Jackson 5 I reckon it was, and not just Michael.
Anyone else? Someone know what it is called?

Was walking down King St (Newtown) last night.

Pouring rain.

A couple of hundred people threw a random street party.

'Rock With You' was blaring.

They were going off.

Funny stuff.

Went to Harvey Norman yesterday.
They had Michael Jackson playing through their stereo systems.

Michael Jackson and I were born in the same era
Im a nobody when it comes to fame and have earnt modest amounts of $$$
MJ was an entertainer extroadinaire with stacks of $$$$

What does the comparism mean?

Fame can be a persons undoing
The man, by all accounts was a hyperchondriac for a variety of ailments
The general public can shut out the world, become reclusive or take time out if they are not well, they can rehabilitate without the world watching
MJ with the stigma of child molestations and other possible health probs may have had nowhere to turn
His every movement is scrutinised by the paparazzi and by the public
Theres no time out
No privacy
This is the price you pay for fame

When your depressed you dont wanna answer phone calls, face certain people and have your private life leeched from you
the last few days/weeks or longer might have been too traumatic for the rock legend

Did being rich + famous in the end make it too hard for MJ ?

A tragic end to a brillaint entertainer

If ever the letters R.I.P. were applicable , it is for MJ

You raise good points Mal.

Michael Jackson Is Gone, but the Sad Facts Remain is an article by Maureen Orth, with links to five other article she wrote in following the trials and tribulations over past 12 years. A good read for anyone without much to do at lunch today.

When it comes to the death of a celebrity I always feel terribly sorry for the friends and relatives who didn't and still don't seek fame and attention but are forced to grieve in public under the glare of the worlds media. I know I'd hate every second of it.

Probably applies less to the Jackson family...almost everyone connected with them is probably already a celeb but i'll bet as well as the kids there are others who were close to the family but managed to remain out of the spotlight...til now.

According to Sky News last night on tv Michael is not the biological father of any of the kids and that woman who was supposed to be the mother of the first two Debbie something??? isn't...if true that could turn into a loooooooong and ultimately tedious court battle/news story.

I do think this plan to display the body for the fans to come and look at is a bit sick...I believe there have already been 12 fans committed suicide so seeing that will more than likely tip a few more over the edge.

Don't remember hearing about any but then I was only 16 when Elvis died so I think my parents would probably have restricted what news I got to see about it...didn't have the rolling news type coverage we have today...stuff like that might have been in the papers I guess.

Btw this was the report...

Of course I guess we don't know if these people already had mental health issues already that would make them more likely to do that or if perhaps they the extreme obsessive types who border on being or become stalkers...but very sad all the same.

i must say i agree with you bayman until we (family) had a private viewing of our father when he passed. totally surreal feeling came across us since we hadn't seen him for a month or two prior.
To eventually be able to say our goodbyes in front of him (face to face) will be something i will always remember. everyone to their own i suppose

When Derrick Thomas of the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs died at age 33 or so (of complications following a car accident) his body was put on public display before the funeral. Maybe it's more of a US thing.

Sure did. And with John Lennon. I remember with Kurt Cobain there was even copy cat suicides  This has being going on for a while. Some female fans were even reported to have committed suicide after Rudolph Valentino died.

in dance probably as great or greater than Fred Astaire

Read an interesting quote attributed to Fred Astaire the other day.

He said Michael Jackson danced 'angry'.
