Just seen the clip on the news of Burger gouging Fitzgerald and read De Villiers reaction...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NYONDg4J_E

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/8122733.stm

South Africa coach Peter de Villiers said not only should Burger not have been sent off but he should not have been shown a card of any colour.

"I don't think it should have been a card at all," De Villiers said.

"For me and for everybody, this is sport. This is what it is all about. This is great if everything is clear cut in this environment we are in we shouldn't try to prepare even.

"What people think and what people say to us is their opinion and we honour their opinion but it doesn't mean we all agree with it."

Hope the tribunal bans the b*****d for good...no place or excuse for that in ANY sport imho.

Burger gets an 8 weeks ban...might be good news for GDB and MK...

Burger is suspended until late August and will subsequently miss the first three matches of South Africa's Tri-Nations campaign but Botha will be available for the world champions' opener against New Zealand in Bloemfontein on 25 July.

The story has just hit the BBC site but the only quote is...

"The employment contract of Lote Tuqiri has been terminated effective today," a short statement from the ARU said, adding that it was a "standard employment matter".

Couldn't really be more obviously deliberate could it?

Sounds like De Villiers is none to popular at home either...if this article is an accurate example of the feelings about him it might might eventually start to take it's toll on the team spirit in time for your Tri-Nations...

Lote is going to take the ARU to court. I reckon it's one misdemeanour too many but if so, it's being kept very well hidden. Rumoured to be getting $700k p.a.

Thanks for that GDB...guess the details will filter through eventually.

So in the interests of yin and yang and balance and all that stuff it must be the AB's turn now...so who are they going to lose for a few games at least ? ;)
