I remember some words recebntly spoken "you never know..."

How very true.

The last time someone was brought out of the Riverland to play straight into a league team might have been Malcolm Hill! Anyone remember anyone else in a similar situation?

Jason Kassulke was asked to play for the West Adelaide league team back when he was 17, when he was playing for Barmera at the same time. Barmera had a bye and Neil Kerley wanted him at Westies and was going to put him straight in the centre against Sturt but Kazza knocked him back. True story. He was a gun. He was one of the favourites for the Whillas Medal when he was 17.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep

No

Tonight on the SANFL League Teams Show on 1197am 5RPH West Adelaide coach Andy Collins gave a bit of an exclusive. He told listeners that for the big game next week between the Bloods and Sturt in Waikerie, they are going to have a bit of an unusual selection situation in that he is going to bring Ryan Bennett straight into the Bloods league side out of your Riverland Comp.

I assume Ryan plays for Waikerie because Andy mentioned he was highly recommended by Mark Ruccuito so that's where I gather the connection is from. I know Ryan has played at Westies in the Underage and has played handfull of league games for the Bloods before but just keen to find out more to help with the LifeFM broadcast of the game.

If you're reading Ryan, Andy told me he would like you to come watch Westies play this weekend, so I'm afraid you will be missing the game against Berri.

Absolutely nothing against Ryan Bennett, hes a super player but is this fact? Pulling a guy out of local footy straight into a league footy side against Sturt??

Seems a bit off to me and i wouldnt have thought Ryan could compete with the league guys for fitness etc!

Ryan has played league footy in the past so I am sure he knows the fitness level required to succeed at this level. IMO he wouldnt do it if he didnt think he could do well.

I heard it on radio straight from the coaches mouth so it will happen. I have heard some say Ryan had struggles with his weight when originally at Westies, but not sure what kind of fitness level and condition he is in now.

It's definitely happening. I don't think fitness will be a great issue at the moment.

Cant get a game because Wunkar have a full squad, however a former star Bulldog from a few years back could play his first game this weekend.

Daniel Evans brother in law played about 80 odd games for Wunkar in late 80's early 90's. Would be pushing 40 now but still would be very strong and very quick.

Great game of footy at Berri on Saturday. Edge of your seat stuff all day. Excellent standard of footy by both teams.

Congrats to Leon Braun on his 300th game.
Great effort from the big fella after suffering a heart attack a couple of years back.
Kicked five goals on Saturday in a strong effort.
Top bloke too.

A huge effort by the big fella.
He was coaching the Bombers at the time of his heart attack.
Given a lot to the club over the years.

Also well done to the Ramco FC on a great night on Saturday.
Enjoyed the celebrations.
Everything looked like it was about to kick into gear when I left ;)

Nice win to Berri. What does this mean for Renmark?
And...can the Demons make the final four?
