Was waiting for him to pull some kind of rabbit out of his hat to get out of those 50 shows in London.

Ta-da!!

(Seriously, despite being a talented but arguably cretinous individual the world was more interesting with him in it so RIP Wacko)

Sky might be back-pedaling a bit now...started making a point of saying the report is unconfirmed.

BBC site has reported the heart attack but not his death. Interviewing Uri Gella at the moment and all he's heard is what's being reported so far but can't confirm ad is trying to contact the family.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8119951.stm

Now also saying that the LA Times is reporting that he is in a coma.

TMZ.com is calling him dead. TMZ is owned by AOL, owned by Time Warner. Every site is now linking to TMZ who would be making a killing (pardon the pun) from flow on advertising. No questions asked, it is now being accepted as fact. Journalism is dead - Media Watch refers to it as 'churnalism' which is spot on.

Karl Stefonovic just read out to the nation an email from a viewer who had been on a website and seen MJ declared dead. No checks and balances, he just read it out! That's what passes as news these days! Jane Doyle and Chris Ditmar are doing exactly the same on 5AA. It's disgraceful that there are no independent news rooms left at radio stations and to a lesser extent TV shows - we get all our info pre digested from one source, usually a powerful all-controlling one like Fox or in this case AOL.

MJ may well be dead which is very sad, but if not questions should be asked about why have accepted this fall in journalistic standards. But of course they won't. (Rant over)

Sky News now say the LA Times are quoting law enforcment and city sources to confirm his death.

I know he had masses of fans regardless of the alledged scandalls and I am sorry he's dead but I think the great shame is how this will completely overshadow the death of poor Farrah Fawcett...just the same as that Diana woman's death did when Mother Teresa died at the same time.

Michael Jackson dead at age 50 - absolutely devastating news

Postby FD88 » Fri Jun 26, 2009 9:05 am

The effects of this will rival the scale of Princess Diana's death, Elvis, just an enormously tragic event.

One of the most talented performers the world has ever seen.

RIP :(

I was never a big fan of his music but I sincerely hope the media will show some consideration towards his 3 children...sadly I doubt it and imagine the hyena's will be gathering. Also hope they don't end up in some god awful tug-of-love custody battle now between the mothers and the family.

I was never a major fan either but you can appreciate the sheer magnitude of the story. This'll go on for weeks on end, it's Lennon, Diana, Presley all over again.

Geeez there are some moron's out there...Sky are talking to a reporter in LA who says that people/fans are massing at the hospital and doing stuff like setting off the fire alarms to try and get inside and mobbing staff to try and get information. Don't these idiots stop to think about all the other patients...hope to god no one dies because of this behaviour. Gathering to mourn his death is one thing but that's just crazy.

I always felt very sorry for him...so many people trying to make money out of him all his life in one way or another and could probably be thought of as the poster boy for disfunctional families. At least a heart attack was a dignified end for him.
