Already predicting a very easy bay win

I hope the entire Glenelg club is thinking that way!!
Then the Eagles can give them a great Welcome Back to Fortress Woodville!!!.

Cheers

Ha, you are as bad as the Woodville oval ground announcer, he is cringeworthy with comments like 'the media wrote us off' , 'no one tips us', 'they are all picking on us'. in fact the Eagles will probably win again this week, i cant wait to hear the ground announcer dribble crap again.

So with 14 injuries after last sunday WWT start as favourites .
I think your cringeworthy mate .And I'm saying that my co worker so over confident he wanted to place a bet .He is one of your "fair weather" fans goes every week except when u lost to Centrals anzac day and your last loss at oval ave.and yes we have fans like that as well.

Any chance there will be an operational bar on the western side of the ground? The club is missing out on some valuable coin by not catering to the vast away support that will once again be in attendance on the western wing.

Actually (surprisingly) I don't agree ... one of the strengths of this Bay side is that there are no stars and it plays as a tight team and adheres strongly to Rubbers' game plan.. They have had a very settled line up over the last few weeks and the results are there to see.

Having a Port listed AFL player come into the Bay lineup when he presumeably doesn't train with them and not up to date with the team structure is a more of a (slight) distraction than a bonus as I see it.

The same for Brett Burton as I have indicated above ... even worse for the Eagles as there would be a huge question mark that Burton would be able to see out the game (if he plays this week which is unlikely).

So, if Salopek plays then fine, the appropriate adjustments will be made at the selection table to accommodate because we want to have a good relationship with our affiliated AFL clubs, but this will keep some strong contenders in the reserves from pushing their case for league selection, especially since Chris Kane is out with suspension and there needs to be at least one change to the lineup.

C'est la vie.

dedja,
salopek has always played his heart out for glenelg & as a team player so there wont be any problems there.....i do agree there has been just a few afl listed players at all sanfl clubs over the years that don't put in for the team....i could list some names but i'll start with a bloke that was shifted from south to glenelg then onto port but most do put in for their respective clubs

Bayman, not having a go at Salopek at all and agree with your comments about him, its more about any player in that situation. It puts both the SANFL club and the player in a slightly difficult position but this issue is something that we all need to work with and we do.

My point was just that it is not necessarily a bonus to have an AFL listed player come back to play at SANFL level because of team dynamics, rather than the ability or mindset of the player concerned, thats all. ;)

I can see dedja's point bayman, but also agree with what you are saying...

Interesting question, when was the last time Salopek played for the Bays ? I seem to recall him playing for Glenelg at Elizabeth against the Dogs in maybe about 03 or 04 ?? There would be a fairly substantial list turnover from then at the Tigers and Steve may not know any of his "new" team mates for the weekends clash against the Eagles.

Salopek dominated when playing for Glenelg before becoming a Power regular. As Dedga said, the game plan i am sure has changed since his last stint with the bays. Although i am sure his class will prevail and he will slot into the midfield rotation very well. Also good to see young Henley product Broadbent make his AFL debut i have seen plenty of him as a junior and it comes as no surprise to see him get a game in his first year on the list.

ok Eagles fans.......keep an eye on young Batley in the reserves

he and Brodie Smith are rated up there with the best to come from this club and play AFL in the last 10 years...

both onballers/wing/half back flank

Hawthorn watched Jarrad Allmond play last week at Noarlunga but unfortunately his game was hampered by injury....

should be another great game of footy this week at Fortress Woodville......

both our sides have been hit hard by injury......

Eagles by 9 points....

I must admit I had the same concerns dedja, out of form and on the return from injury still (shoulder) how will he play for us? Then I thought of the last time he played for us Rd 19 2007 Glenelg v the infedels at the Bay (a one off, on return from injury) http://www.safooty.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9437&start=40 and how he stood up in the last quarter when the game was on the line not to mention the hanger he took. So I think Bayman is right no need to worry about Salopek always puts in when he plays for the Bays.

Can see him (salopek) getting a good run on the wing - to find the footy and get a bit of confidence. Ruey will move into the small lead up forward role off the bench (C Kanes recent role) that he was playing late last year.

Game on Bays, need to work hard for the full four quarters to salute the judge with this one - as we have done the last five games.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

understanding what your trying to say but if Salopek and Carr both qualify for finals you would rather them in there than a couple of young fringe players who have played under 15 games.

In sport you can't replace quality and both them guys would be at SANFL level.
