What is the story here?

Nicholas copped a knee in the back (pretty decent one) in a marking contest and was in a fair bit of distress. He wasn't looking good for a bit and his dad had what appears to be an anxiety attack seeing his son go down and fainted. Both are ok.

Thanks for the quick reply, glad to hear both are doing ok now.

Almost a full strength side for Uri on the weekend. Young consistant defender Kyle Sutton was out due to uni exams, while danny smart is currently playin B grade to find some form (likely to be back up soon). Marcus Anderson successfully completed a return to hills footy after a full knee reconstruction and with a few more weeks in the B's would be in the mix for A's.

Yep, Uri's were a class above Birdwood on Saturday and smashed us pretty much all around the ground. Although we have picked up some really good players this year, it's our depth that we really need to work on now - we had a few out and were just unable to cover them.
Uri have a real chance at the premiership this year and with Blackwood beating Lofty, it could be any one of the top 4's trophy.
Finals footy this year will be some of the best the HFL have seen for a while.

Who were the players missing Gimp? Will they be back for this week.

Dempsey, Big Robbie, Lukey Highfold..
Justing Farrel broke his finger in the first quarter. and stu moerms did another hammy....so our depth is being more and more tested...i think robbie is back this week as is luke highfold, dont know about dempsey though. we'll know tonight at training i assume

Could not be bothered going to Blackwood saturday so went over to Thunderpark and boy Hahndorf are impressive. Pretty strong physically. Ironbank played pretty good footy and when you score 16 goals you win half your games. That Bradley charachter is by far and away the best player going around in HFL at the moment. No ruckman comes close. He was giving Nicholas a bath and he is strong. If they can get a full forward of stature to straighten them up and another tough omnballer they will go places in the next couple of years with the juniors coming on. Hahndorf though will win the flag by a mile. Hate to say it.

on saturdays games handorf were tested at times by a youthful ironbank team. they work hard for eachother and just have a crack, in a few years time with some more recruits they will b a good side. thought that handorf just had too much class all over the feild.

what happend in the lofty blackwood game? i see blackwood won but what was the story behind it? blackwod for mine are the sleeping giants and will compete with us late in september. their forward line seems to b very roach and gigney minded but it works with both those big blokes awesome in the air, gives them something to kick too. how players do lofty have to come back into the side?

i see uris flogged birdwood, no surprise they won but though it might have been closer. they looked like they have gained some valuable percentage uri in the fight for top 3 spot. do they have many to come back into their side either?

The game was very well faught out by both teams, Lofty looked slow and second to the ball in the first quarter and a bit in the 2nd, then turned up the tempo and quick ball movement and got in front by the middle of the last. To blackwoods credit they were keeping up and then snagged a few late ones which put them in front, a good game to watch. Lofty looked as they really lacked a leader, since their domination they've have trigger and cutting and with all 3 stappletons out on saturday they really missed them. In saying that though NPG and S wood really stood up as they usually do, and it was good to see billy bawden back to some good form. Players that were out were the 3 stappleton brothers, pencil, burch went off in 2nd quarter with a shoulder and other players like joel brown, matt penny coming back from sickness, jumbo davies and nick paech who is finding his feet again in the 2's after a long time out with injury.

Another big week in footy! Here's some tips for you all

Mt Lofty vs Onkas - Will be a cracker game with Mt Lofty losing a few and Onkas looking impressive. I think Lofty but an upset wouldn't be the most surprising thing i've ever seen

Bridgewater vs Ironback - I'll go ironbank here, but I reckon this game could go anyway. I think they play a bit more like a team. That massive ruckman they picked up is a very good player and they have some good young players. Once again though it wouldn't surprise me if bridgys got up.

Hahndorf vs Birdwood - Will be a very tough game. Rosters hurting after last weeks shocking game so will come out fighting but may be just beyond us. Hahndorf a great team and shaping nicely for september

Lobethal vs Uraidla - Uraidla by alot. They are the best team in the comp (in my opinion) and the inclusion of Ricky Ebert is huge. This will be the biggest margin of the year i think.

Mt Barker vs Blackwood - Blackwood will win this. Mt Barker obviously not all they can be and don't have the defenders to stop Roache and Gigney.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but recently Blackwood recruited the services of former West Adelaide player Ben Hollands, had a good first game for the club in the A's up at Barker today too, got 5th in the club best players. Gigney kicked 9 to help Blackwood win by over 11 goals.
Mt Barker B's won by 4 goals to take the Courier Cup.

Went to Raider park yesterday to watch and expecting our Raider boys to get a much needed win. In what was a good standard game I came away surprised at how much better Ironbank are since we thrashed them in round 2. I can see why that Bradley guy is the best HFL player by a mile. You have to hand it to their coach who has played those young kids like O'sullivan, Hulme, Irwin and yesterday he gave young Shearwood who they said is just turned 16 his first game. All acquitted themselves very well and are not out of place at all and are gonna be good players in the HFL in years to come and maybe our club should go down that path instead of paying big bickies to get so called good players. I know we have injuries and that effects the team but we don't seem to have the exiting youth that opposition clubs have. All those 4 kids above with the many others being given opportunities at other clubs are the reason the HFL will be a great comp for years to come. Footy is alive and well in the hills. By the way I thought we played ok as well on the heavy ground. We will some more games this year no doubt.

Ironbank won by 15 points. 16 goal to 13. Was a good standard game, Bridgy had a few injuries though. Gazz Campbell has some real talent to work with. That new young lad shearwood yesterday looked the part after quarter time when he got some confidence and rid of nerves. Give them all a year or 2 and he will have a good team there. The Chief as he is known is a quality player.

Must admit I was disappointed with Raiders yesterday. As a sponsor and for what we pay we got little in return. Our senior players need to step up. Ironbank to their credit played well and yes their young kids with their pace and their enthusiasm are blending with the likes of that big Ruckman bradley and the wendelbirns, Williams etc. We have some good kids too but they don't seem to develop as quickly. Maybe it is our oval and the fact it's heavy all the time and small, but that little waife of a kid 22 for Ironbank yesterday didn't flinch it at all. Don't think I've seen a kid that quick for ages going around. Maybe the us Raiders need to be patient and expect too much - no doubt injuries have hurt but still ......
