If you were at the game, and saw it unfold, you'd actually understand how the niggle and by-play works.
Were you there, or are you relying on contextless posts to get your fill for the week?

I can take blame for that by describing it as a "huge shove", it certainly wasn't that, just a mistake I made trying to convey the humour of the moment.

FWIW I thought Henderson was pretty bloody good today.
Setup directly two good passages on the GS wing that led to goals, and bagged one himself.
Of the 794 turnovers and skill errors for both sides for the day, he had a small %.

I still contend the style and standard of games this season is a clear rung down on the last few seasons. The second quarter was awful, ugly football from bothsides. Errant goal kickouts cost us 2.2 for the day (one in the third from O'Hara, and the one in the last quarter just as bad as the two that led to behinds.

To be honest, I was disappointed with North. Certainly didn't expect to win the game, but being able to switch Havelberg and Schell makes abig difference, Henderson good on debut and Hayes a top line defender. Lots of players to come back, thankfully.

I suspect the irony is that both Gill and the tackler Havelberg will both miss games from their injuries. Not from the same incident, but Havelberg might have reinjured the hammy! :( :(

Now, off to Noarlunga!

Yes got to agree about the standard, sorry to offend anyone but that was 2 top 5 sides playing today, fair enough the Dogs have been out of form ,but NA beat equal 1st in Sturt last week in a flogging.
Too be honest it was like watching 2 bottom sides scratch it out,as always a good day at the footy but very ordinary skill level by both sides, and the Dogs skills coming from defence were apalling and to add to the comedy Norths counterattack forward was a joke.
Although Centrals have ruts throughout seasons ,and ultimately bounce back, their skill level throughout their current form slump has been the worst for at least 10 years.
Seen us play bad for various reasons but never seen us as sloppy skillwise as recently.

Man, the SANFL would be disappointed with the crowds.

Port wanted 10k today, they would've been lucky to get 4.

I think that the SANFL probably would be disappointed, yet what have they done to promote and grow the game of SANFL football this year in order to increase the Crowd Numbers?

Statistically it has been proven that Friday night matches in good weather attract larger crowds to SANFL matches than games held on a Saturday Afternoon, we started off the year with a Friday night match then several rounds without a Friday night game, i think right there is an opportunity for the SANFL to make some changes that will help us encourage more people back to the game and give us a chance at keeping them for the rest of the season - That and getting the lights project up at Glenelg and Thebarton up and running as a matter of urgency!

Dunno, if they were realistic and took the weather into account (it rained continuously for the 90 odd minutes it took me to get to Elizabeth) and the travel factor I thought it was quite good, I was actually pleasantly suprised with how many North fans were there today.

I couldn't think of many things worse this year than watching Port and Norwood the way they've played so far this year and considering someone made the master stroke to put it on TV anything above 3k would be a great crowd.

Mind you the SANFL remind me of politicians.
If crowd numbers are up its due to it being a great product and successful marketing, if crowd numbers are down its because of the weather.
Bit like the Libs saying good interests rates were due to their good management but good interest rates under Labor is just due to world economic conditions. (and Im a Lib voter!) ;)

There's no support in the media these days. Check out Rowey on Friday night, "there's no football this weekend", is what he said, yes someone came on air and gave it to him for that, he said he meant AFL, but all the same its indicative of the dismissive attitude a lot of people have in the media about the SANFL. We all know we're the only one's who love that league, just about everyone else doesn't care and have been sucked in to the corporate AFL game.

Back on this game. I think if the last few weeks prove anything, its that all of our teams aren't as invincible as we may have thought they were. No doubt I thought Sturt were the real deal until that North game and just in case I thought that was a mistake, Glenelg bopped me over the back of the head to remind me it was true. That said, Glenelg have been generally poor against Centrals, while North, well they seem to struggle against Central and Glenelg somewhat. The Dogs, well losing by 14-15 goals two weeks running is not the way any of their fans would like to see them play. So for me, it is June, no one is premiers now as we all now, so if anything, I think we can all walk away from recent games thinking we're not there yet. We're looking like we will be thereabouts, but no one, Central, Sturt, Glenelg, North and whoever else, wants to roll up to the finals thinking its all over, give me the cup just for coming.

If anyone finds out how the fella ended up pulling up after his heart attack in front of the grandstand it'd be greatly appreciated. I don't know if it was a Dogs or North fan and it doesn't matter (I assume there's a good chance it was a Dogs fan being on that side) but seeing the way all the crowd reacted and having medical staff of both clubs willing to jump in and help out puts a lot of things in perspective. It'll probably be someone like me in 5 or 10 years time and its probably better to happen at the footy than even at home with so many competent medical staff nearby.
When it happened there was a very uncanny silence around the ground.
I think its fantastic that we can hold up our game for something like that, I'm not so sure if the same would happen in the AFL.
I wish the gentleman a speedy recovery and hope he's back at Elizabeth or Prospect watching the game we all love again very soon.

Having a look at the CD forum, he's a Bulldogs supporter, and it appears he is ok, which is good news.
