So why is it okay for Geelong, Carlton and North Melbourne to all wear Blue and White but no one else is allowed to wear Collingwood colours?
You will have to ask the VFL of days gone by, however, the AFL obviously learnt from the VFL's mistake, & refused to go back down that path again.
therisingblues wrote:I think the premiership argument is very relevant.
why? because it supports your point in this particular argument?
therisingblues wrote:Port is one of the most successful sporting clubs in the world, and Collingwood are rank underachievers. So should Port have to bow to them?
um, because Port are joining a competition Collingwood were already in? Your logic would be sound had Collingwood joined the SANFL....

not sure how this is relevant? does that mean Essendon & Carlton can also wear Black & White stripes because they've won more flags than Collingwood?
therisingblues wrote:This is the same reason the Vics consider Coleman a better full forward to Farmer; obviously goals kicked in the the old SANFL don't count as much as those kicked in the old VFL.
It seems to me that you defending Collingwood leaves you on the same side of the fence as those that refuse to allow the great achievers of SANFL their dues. You are going to need to change that signature of yours.
[/quote]Wrong & wrong. When it comes to comparing goal kicking records, best & fairests & individual feats,as long as it was achieved in the highest level (at the time), it's comprable (ie SANFL/WAFL/VFL were on equal footing until the advent of the AFL, or arguably 1985-1987). The SANFL/WAFL/VFL are not comparable to the AFL
now.
So Ken Farmer's record is superior to Coventry, Coleman & Lockett, which cannot be argued along the lines you wish to- it's outcome is not linked to the "Port should have first rights to Black & White" argument.
