They met working at Tesco's in Speke, Liverpool and eventually after courting for a couple of years were married in the church on the street where they lived, also in Speke (just down the road from John Lennon Airport).
My Dad grew up playing league, being from the city of Wigan it was the number one sport. My second cousin, Shaun Edwards, captained the side in the mid 90's. As far as football went, Dad followed Manchester United but not in a big way. He tried to get me to change when I was younger but it was never going to happen.
They emigrated to Australia in the early 70's. My Grandma (Mum's side) sent me my first kit when I was eight or nine and from that moment I was a Red for life. I've since been lucky enough to go to the UK a number of times and always get to Anfield whilst I stay with family on Merseyside.
Our family follow Sturt because when my Dad arrived in Adelaide, his first job was washing cars at a yard on West Terrace and one of the sales people was the late Bob Shearman. He got Dad to a couple of games and Dad was hooked. My whole family are one-eyed Double blue and we rarely miss the games unless work prevents.

We moved back to the UK in 74 to Accrington in Lancashire and even them I was going to follow Leicester, until I found out how bloody far away they were, so I decided that it would either have to be b4st4rds or Burnley as both were about 4 miles from where I lived.

I think I have suffered more with the Clarets Drebindrebin wrote:johntheclaret wrote:Anyway, for some unexplicable reason I decided on Leicester City. They had a decent side in those days. Poor excuse JTC. Mind you, other than this years promotion to the Premier League, you would have had about the same frustration following the Clarets as you would have if you had stuck with Leicester!

i played soccer as a kid from about the age of 8 and all my mates were Man Utd fans, so i just jumped on tha bandwagon. then about 3 years later we had a carnival at my club (Munno Para) and my team wore West Ham guernseys, since no-one i knew supported West Ham i decided to change my loyalties. then soon after i realised West Ham were rubbish so i ended up not aligning myself with anyone really and just loved watching the 1 hour highlights show on SBS and a replay here and there. after a while i got involved with playin footy and my loe for the English game grew cold as AFL took over and i almost cut ties with the great game. then last year i got an invite to a fantasy football comp and thought why not, this got me involved in the game again and then when i was at work i was lookin at the table and saw that Hull were dominating early and Stoke were strugglin a bit and my mate decided to jump on Hull so i got on Stoke! i love an underdog and they seemed perfect.
i also have a soft spot for Ipswich Town and the only reason for that is they were a team that i used to play as on FIFA 07 i reckon and one day they beat my best mate in a cup final so i gave him heaps.... pretty childish really!!!

Hahaha, yes, yes you are!!!!
That's quite an interesting story. Sounds like you've changed teams nearly as often as you have underwear!!! Just kidding mate. Unfortunately for you, I'd say Stoke are up against it this year.
