Worst ten songs of all time

Postby Rik E Boy » Wed Sep 20, 2006 1:55 pm

Greetings, I've done a bit of surfing (in my lunch hour if you must know Mr Boon LOL) and done some research of the worst ten songs of all time. I came up with five lists and added my own top ten in there and devised the following scenario: 10 points for every list appearance plus 10 points for a number one ranking, 9 for number two and so on down to 1 point for a number ten.

First of all REB's Ten worst songs of all time

1. My Heart will go on – Celine Dion
2. I will always love you – Whitney Houston
3. I am woman – Helen Reddy
4. Hero – Mariah Carey
5. Tragedy – Bee Gees
6. Achy Breaky Heart – Billy Ray Cyrus
7. I’ve never been to me – Charlene
8. Everything I do, I do it for you – Bryan Adams
9. Seasons in the Sun – Terry Jacks
10.Born In the USA - Bruce Springsteen

Now any joker can say 'hey these are the worst songs of all time' but I decided to search out a few other lists. When you Google 'worst songs' you always come back to a list from Blender magazine but I thought the 'Ask men' dire weddings song was definetely worthy of inclusion.

The links for the other five lists are here

http://www.popculturemadness.com/Music/WORST.html (first list I encountered)

http://www.usatoday.com/life/music/news ... ongs_x.htm - http://www.blender.com (The blender list. A bit harsh on 'We built this city' not great but the worst?)

http://www.wanderlist.com/worstsongsofall (Sweet child of mine at number seven WTF?)

http://www.alaskajim.com/lists/worst_songs.htm (This is a good one because this bloke has done on a wider scale what I have done here so good to factor his stats in)

http://www.fordpower.net/forums/archive ... 42912.html (References the ASK MEN wedding song hates with some funny comments that are OTM)

And the winners are *drumroll*

THE WORST TEN SONGS OF ALL TIME

10. Seasons in the Sun - Terry Jacks

Truly depressing and overplayed at any baby boomer show. If you haven't heard this dire song think yourself lucky because it truly reeks.

9. Lovin You - Minnie Riperton

Don't remember this one, or not well should I say. Might have to ask LL about this one as it was a late 70's tune IIR.

8. Everything I do ( I do it for you) - Bryan Adams

Good on you Bryan Adams for showing us that Canadian men are as bad as Canadian women when it comes to truly awful love songs.

7. Disco Duck - Rick Dees

A truly rank song totally devoid of talent. But it had a disco beat and it was the seventies so it sold LOL

6. How am I supposed to live without you - Michael Bolton

Who cares? Just die already. If he didn't get back with this chick he wouldn't have gotten the chance to butcher 'Dock of the Bay'. Michael Bolton LMAO.

5. I will always love you - Whitney Houston

Especially if you provide the crack ha ha. She deserves everything she gets for foisting this turkey on our ears.

4. My heart will go on - Celine Dion

Celine is terrible at the best of times but here she truly excelled herself. If I could go back in time I wouldn't stop Hitler, I'd warn the captain of the Titanic and receive more thanks from modern society as this song would not have been released.

3. I've never been to me - Charlene

Oh dear. What an absolute Barry Crocker. The lyrics are truly cringeworthy.

2. Muskrat Love - Captain and Tennille

The only song in this list I have never heard but type in 'worst songs' and it bobs up everywhere. Captain and Tennille were absolute carp so this one must have been even worse than the rubbish I have heard. Yay!! I've only heard nine of these!!

1. Achy Breaky Heart - Billy Ray Cyrus

Without peer as the worst song of all time, although I'd listen to this over any power diva of the 90's. Billy Ray was so gay he was straight and his mullett finally killed off that kind of hairstyle except for in Ipswich and Port Adelaide and parts of New Zealand.

So there you have it. Thanks for the memories NOT. Notice that there aren't any 'modern' songs (last 15 years) in this list? Wanna know why? Cos it's nearly all total 5hite and as such does not reside in the memory banks as standing out in a significant way from any other shite that is about the place although Black Eyed Peas and Crazy Frog probably deserve an honourable mention.

regards,

REB
