The fact they have also changed the actual structure of the 18s program - the players come together earlier and develop teams systems has nothing to do with it either hey, ML....
The squad started playing in early May - previously it wasn't until the selection of the team in mid to late May following a selection trial prior to an AFL game that the actual squad started working together...

Giddings couldn't get a game of U/17's a few years ago and was stuck playing at Henley in their U/16's. Now he is playing in the state u/18 team, the concept seems to have worked well for him
