Bruce Jolly RIP

Bruce Jolly OAM passed away on June 6, 2009.
As a former player at Salisbury DCC I was lucky enough to have met and known Bruce, and my life is better for it. He was a great man and did so much for so many people within the cricket world. My wishes and condolences go to the Jolly family.

Jolly recieved his Order of Australia in 2006 for services to cricket and Australia Rules football
Achievements:
Chairman, District Programming Committee, South Australian Cricket Association (SACA); Member, District Cricket Executive Committee; Member, State Team Management Committee; Life Member, 2005.
Chairman, Salisbury District Cricket Club, 1984-1990 and 1993-1997; Secretary, 1980-1983; Delegate to SACA, since 1981; Life Member.
Oversaw merger of Salisbury District Cricket Club and Elizabeth District Cricket Club to form the Northern Districts Cricket Club, 1997; Chairman, 1997-2003, Committee Member, since 2004.
Senior Vice-President, Para Districts Cricket Association, 1971-1974; Member, Programming Committee; instrumental in establishment of inter-association matches; Junior Coach; Life Member.
Committee Member, Elizabeth North Cricket Club, for many years; Life Member.
Chairman and Secretary, Central Districts Football Association; Chairman of Tribunal; Life Member.
President, Central United Football Club, 1983; Member, Senior Committee, 1967-1985; Secretary, 1981-1982; President, Central Juniors, 1968-1980; Life Member
His son Harvey played first class cricket for SA in 1987

I only just saw this thread, what a shock.

I can only echo the statement of what wonderful man he was, and how much of a contribution he made to South Australian cricket, and to Salsibury and Northern Districts in particular.

Was fortunate enough over the years to hold many conversations with Bruce and enjoyed every moment. Condolences to Harvey in particular, and to the Jolly family. It's stunning to think he's no longer with us.

Cricket has lost a good 'un.

Was a nice service, with approx 500 people present at the club. Will be sorely missed by everyone involved with cricket in the area, his presence was immense.

Agreed. Great foot soldier for the game, and was pivotal in ensuring that cricket was so strong in northern suburbs...Happened very quickly. Condolences to the Jolly family and all those who worked intimately with him in sport.

Was a very fitting service to a great man, lots of people there.

Condolences to the Jolly family and especially my friend Harvey. :(
