I recorded it on my walkman, but the ABC reception over the internet was intermittent, and every five seconds it would cut out for about 2 seconds. Anyone else have this experience? Life FM works fine for me, but ABC today and RPH a couple of weeks back cut out constantly.
Anyway, my walkman divides manual recordings by the periods of silences, so when I listened to the game it had been divided into about 255 "sessions", each about 1 minute long.
I unknowingly had the play function on "shuffle" though (why can't they have stuff work in English over here?) so after about 5 minutes of listening I heard the quarter time scores, and the full time scores a little after that. I thought it was malfunctioning, until I noticed, then questioned the little symbal at the bottom of the screen which says "Shuf".

How bloody good must North be though? There's been a lot of talk about what's been building out at Rooster land. I gotta say it is very impressive to see that talk get backed up by such a huge win. People who have seen them in recent weeks could see the signs, but today must have been close to just about the perfect footy performance.
Sturt's got a bit of homework now I guess.
To the victors the spoils.
Congrats' Roosters.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Geez you shouldn't allow yourself to get sucked in... besides comments like these come back to haunt you, Centrals had us 4-0 by the time we met in the grannie in 2002, so if we meet you with a similar record, I likewise will be happy.

Geez this would have the be the most disappointing match review thread I've ever seen. Its full of sad cases bitching and moaning about tackles and short breaks and whatever else, with very few Sturt supporters just putting up their hand and saying, you know what, we got absolutely flogged a la Centrals last week.

North completely dominated and anhiliated us in contested and uncontested marking all over the ground. So they got 19 frees to 7 in the first half, 31 to 15 by days end, did that decide the game? No. What decided the game was White running about like he was playing on me and marking everywhere and kicking goals everywhere while Sturt continued to pass to North players every five minutes.

It was a crap performance and worse, I think, than Centrals the previous week, purely because Centrals didn't get the ball, but when they did, they used it, while we had it enough, but performed woefully with it.

On top of this, North supporters and so on should be in here praising their team, not being sucked in to defending tackles or Gill or bagging Chambo (what a stupid comment from an obviously complete idiot). All in all this is the poorest, most pathetic post game thread I've seen in ages. Pull your head in people...

... and Sturt supporters, don't be so quick to jump in whining and defending your teams piss weak effort.

My take on the game and this thread for what it is worth!:

Sturt coming off a five day break may have had in the back of their minds that they may run out of legs late in the game however they never got into the game so that wasn't a factor. Finally North played a decent 4 quarter game, first to the ball and tackled and zoned very well that we were able to shut down space and options for Sturt.

I always suscribe to the theory of having 3 tall fwds and equally having 3 tall defenders which we currently have and that is going to test most sides. It helps having blokes like Gill, Schwarze and of course White who can swap between defence and attack to add versatility. Considering we still have Stewart and Dodman pushing for Senior spots the pressure is on for those in the league side to perform (as Stewie found out this week getting dropped). I'm not sure about McEntee or O'Hara for 2nd ruck but it seems to help out Ackland having a genuine second ruck rather than Stewart who is a fwd not a ruckman. Dodman would be my option when he gets fully match fit. At 6'10 he will a good 2nd ruck plus he can play at FF out of the square to cause even more nightmares for the opposing coach trying to match him up.

Back to the match - after watching the match live and then on replay some of the hysteria about Gill's tackle is unwarranted. Gill would be one of the fairest players going around and he even ran up to the young Sturt guy and checked on him shortly after, as did James Allans who whilst waiting to take the kick tap the kid on the shoulder as the stretcher went past. It was one of those unfortunate football incidents. I haven't read too much about Coad's 2 or 3 cowardly acts but at least he got pinged for the elbow to Wright's head along with Wark's game plan to niggle and try and rough up Alleway (waste of time that is!) including a deliberate late forearm to the head during a marking contest (ABC Mark of the Round)?

Whilst I am at it - how did Chambers get goal of the day??? Whymans palm down and soccer effort in the third at the southern end was easily the goal of the day although the main ABC cameras missed most of it - the camera in the pocket at ground level got most of it though!

As for the Chambers debate - thank god Sturt had him on the day. We did bag him at times because he was clearly getting frustrated with the fact of being outnumbered 4 to 1 in the second quarter and he did a couple of stupid things out of frustration which is understandable. No one can deny he is a champion full fwd and would be a walk up start in everyones team. Sometimes it is those that get bagged that are the most admired by the opposing supporters.

Sturt just had one of those days (which trust me - North have had plenty of in recent years) where we could do no wrong, the ball bounced our way and the umpiring went away but deservedly in the main because we played in front and controlled the game. Next week could a be leveller for North out at HH against a wounded doggies side. We need to back this weeks effort up with something equal next week in terms of passion, committment and pressure for the full game.

There is still along way to go in 2009 and for anyone to write off any of the top 5 or predict a clear cut favourite at this stage is a very game tipster. I would like to think that with our list we will finish top 3?

As for that "tool" who posted North is not in the hunt - why would you bother with a piss weak trolling comment like that???

Good post, drebin.
I wonder when the last time all sides in the top five got massive thumpings in th one season? North haven't yet, but:
Centrals got thumped by 80+ by Sturt
Sturt got thumped by 80+ by North
Glenelg got thumped by 80+ by Centrals
Eagles gotthumped by 80+ Norwood

Four thumpings, but no-one dishing out multiples, and no-one suffering multiples like this.
Next weekend tells us a lot about 2009 (1vs2, 3vs4).

Five day break for Sturt had no bearing physically, this was all mental (just like us a week earlier).

Where's Purch this week, for a host of insightful 'slow, old' type messages about some of his own Blues?

North Adelaide is the best team I've seen this year. That's not to say I necessarily think they will go top, but they've impressed me more than any other side so far in 2009.

Good balanced summary drebin. North's structure was great yesterday and Sturt's discipline was questionable. Every team has one of those days, which puts our Centrals win into perspective. And sure Sturt only had a 5 day break but we did have plenty of rest time - the entire first half for instance ;)
Agree that Gill's tackle was unfortunate but probably fair. Coady's frustration might cost him a game however.

Also agree there is no clear cut favourite between Dogs, Bays, North & Sturt though I suspect we are somewhere towards the bottom of that list. Will be an interesting game against the Bays this week to say the least.

Surely someone has to congratulate the North Board in all of this? Despite the bleatings of a few malcontents on the Roost they seem to be taking their football club in the right direction.

Well done Bodan!

spot on, i agree 110%

I would also agree with this. Good skills, very disciplined with there zone and they all looked like big units. I think they will fair pretty well in september if they can keep everyone on the park.
Btw, did you guys come out of this game with any injuries. I saw you went in with nil, amazing for this time of year

Dodman missed this week with a calf strain but otherwise yes, injury free. Wouldn't have happened for any club at this time of year too often i wouldn't have thought.
